Lords of the Fallen PvP Guide

PvP Modes in Lords of the Fallen

In Lords of the Fallen, there isn't a variety of PvP modes. There is a maximum of 3 online players including one invading party. PvP in Lords of the Fallen occurs through invasions which can happen during single-player gameplay or during cooperative play. The total of three online players is inclusive of one cooperative party which involves the host and one other invitee. The third online player will be the invader. Invasions are the only PvP options available in Lords of the Fallen. Players can either be invaded during online play or choose to invade other players.

What are Invasions in Lords of the Fallen?

Invasions in Lords of the Fallen is a feature found in the game that is similar to other Souls-like games. It is a known feature found in the recent well-known game, Elden Ring, and works similarly to how invasions are done in other games. Players must have access to online play to be able to partake in Invasions. For PlayStation Players, this requires PS Plus. Players can then choose to invade another online player's game to challenge their skills in a duel. It is entirely possible to have a 2v1 duel if the host is in an existing part or in the middle of a cooperative game. Unsuspecting players can also be invaded by other online players, so it's best to be prepared while traversing the different Locations online.

Can PvP or Invasions be Switched off?

PvP as a feature cannot be technically switched off. However, since online play is required for any multiplayer interactions, players can always choose to play in single-player mode offline or choose to turn off online interactions from the multiplayer settings on the menu at any point. Players can toggle online playability and crossplay to prevent any unexpected invasions. This would also turn off any online cooperative features, so players who prefer to play cooperatively online will be unable to switch off online mode and prevent invasions this way On the other hand, players can access a specific multiplayer consumable item from a vendor, or the Mirror of Protection from the Radiant Shrine. This item can temporarily prevent them from playing online.

1v1 Arenas in Lords of the Fallen

There are no designated PvP areas in Lords of the Fallen, but instead, players who wish to challenge each other can input the same password in an invasion zone around the world. Invasion areas are seamlessly integrated into different Locations in the game. Note that choosing to invade a friend will affect your rewards rather than initiating a spontaneous invasion through regular matchmaking.

Matchmaking in Lords of the Fallen

The game will have a Matchmaking feature that attempts to connect players at a similar level. The specific search range may expand over time as matchmaking continues. Players who are matched with highly contrasting levels will have damage scaling applied to compensate for both players.

Lords of the Fallen Multiplayer Settings

Activate or deactivate Online Mode. Note offline mode will switch off all online features of the game, including shrines, coop, PVP, and revenge.

From the Multiplayer menu in your settings, players will be able to toggle online and crossplay features or set a session password which can be used by the host to invite specific players to their game.

  • Toggle Online
  • Toggle Allow Crossplay
  • Session password

Lords of the Fallen PvP Zones

As mentioned, PvP online involves 1v1 or 1v2 challenges. There is no dedicated arena or PVP. PvP zones in Lords of the Fallen are not free for all zones but are designated points or areas integrated throughout the world where players can expect to be invaded or will be able to invade other players.

Can I Challenge Friends in Lords of the Fallen?

Friends who wish to invade each other can feel free to do so in any of the designated PvP zones. 2 Players can make this connection by inputting the same session password while one of them steps into an invasion PvP area. One player of the pair will then become the invader. Choosing to duel each other this way will affect your winnings and rewards.

Its weird..im level 20, and get invaded by players who have much much better gear and spells than i do, its as if you can get invaded by any high level player with any gear, sometimes they drop my hp with one hit while me needing to swing the **** out of my weapon just to get theirs to half. Of course i loose at the end. I wanted to do some pvp to get the achievements but now i just thinking screw it

I give this game a thumbs up because I can quit to home mid pvp and lose absolutely nothing and the plus side is it makes invaders upset

Well I came back to the game months later, seeing that it gets updated frequently and its PvP is still bad. Host has all the advantage, especially if they connect from McDonalds China Wi-Fi or something. They nerfed a lot of things damagewise, broken stuff like Pieta or Dervla's Crossbow with Explosive or Twisted Bolts probably doesn't work anymore, and yes they shouldn't. But I used normal weapons and they do nothing, it's simply feasible (especially for host) to R1 spam, because even if you whiff punish you'll be damaging so low that opponent's R1 spam eventually will damage you more. I understand the fact that the developers are trying to increase TTK (time to kill) to make encounters longer and more enjoyable, but it just didn't, not with this netcode.

maybe with these pvp nerfs the game can finally go from "save your money" tier to "unequivocally mid" in the future

It really is a shame that they released this game with a netcode like this and basically ruined the future of the game because of bad first impressions.
This game has some really good ideas in terms of pvp which solves a lot of the problems that are present in ER. The game could have been a nice second game to play for fellow bad r men.
For example the levels in lotf are much better suited for invasions unlike the open world of ER which is a stand around at the grace until someone looses patience game. Enemies pose an actual threat to the players unlike ER's mobs and although the host has basically 2 lives if they are too passive you can target the host first and now there is a pressure on them to do something because of the red reaper guy.
On the rare occasion there is a good connection the fights feel unironically really good to me. The weapons have good movesets with some intention behind them greatswords have pokes and slashes with really nice mixup potentials.
Of course right now every player uses the same broken spell ,that could be tweaked but it doesnt matter because the game will be dead most likely by the time they balance it.
I see the potential in the game too bad they've missed it.

If you use pietas sword spell spam builds while invading you are the biggest loser around and should **** off you have no skill and need to rely on broken builds to feel accomplished

I've tested with a friend of mine and my conclusion is... It doesn't matter what lvl is the host because the player who invades gets a passive power boost.
It will give you the impression the invader is a very high level player but it might not be the case.
I know this because I tried, as a invader, to do pvp with and w/o armor and it's insane. Completely naked and I was receiving 90 dmg per hit, with armor it was 30 dmg...
The host in the other hand seems to receive double the damage.
I believe this happens because in co-op you notice the monsters become tougher but in this case, pvp, the game sees you as 2nd or 3rd party member but your power stacks as a Monster from the game.
Now I don't know if this is on purpose but it's kinda awkward...

The pvp in this game is an absolute unbalance dogshite mess of overpowered weapons and terrible connection. I'm staying offline till this **** is fixed. It's not worth it to stay online just for the plucked eyeballs cause the rewards are way to high and not even properly displayed. (Rebirth Crysalis for example stands at 75 for me and I've heard from other people in different countries it's actually 250.)

It seems like the pvp scaling ignores weapon lvl.. I had a friend drop me a +10 weapon on my lvl 20 character and I was able to invade people in the first area of the game I was basically 1 hitting anyone.

Does PvP feel like who can who first.
Its all one hits and no fun lasting fights.
Might be the people im going against but either i get one hit or they do.

im guessing level 120 or 150 would be a good pvp level right lets u get a hard stat and u could get a sub with health and stam

It seems the invasion mechanic is turned off until you visit the Shrine of Adyr in Fitzroy's Gorge. I am only getting invaded on one character, the one who visited this shrine and interacted with it. All my other characters have never been invaded in more than 30 hours of game-time.
