Lords of the Fallen New Game Plus Guide

How do I Start New Game Plus in LotF?

After you beat the game and the credits roll, players are given the choice to start NG+ or continue their current journey. To start an NG+ Cycle, use any vestige and you'll find an additional feature "New Game +1". Choose this option if you want to start a new cycle. This feature can be used at any time and any Vestige.

What Carries Over to New Game Plus?

Listed below are the following game assets that carry over to an NG+ Cycle in Lords of the Fallen (LotF):

What Doesn't Carry Over to New Game Plus?

Upon starting an NG+ Cycle in Lords of the Fallen (LotF), won't be able to continue the current playthrough and the following items will not be inherited:

Apart from the following category of items, NPC Questlines and the world will reset, where players will have to start from the beginning.

Do I have to start a NG+?

As of Patch 1.1.224, players are no longer required to continue on to a New Game Plus after completing a single playthrough. After completing their playthrough, whether it be a NG or NG+, players will be prompted and given an option to choose whether they would like to progress directly to the next consecutive NG+ or replay the game with the current NG at the same difficulty. Doing the latter will allow players to retain their character, and all their items and progression on a playthrough with the same difficulty as their last, while resetting the world and their interactions with it, including NPCs and questlines. This allows trophy hunters and completionists to seek out any outstanding tasks without having to contend with the increased difficulty that comes with subsequent NG+, should they so choose.

What Should I do Before Starting NG+?

If you unlocked the Radiance Ending, where you defeat Adyr the Bereft Exile, do not start an NG+ cycle first. Make sure to teleport to the Vestige of Betrayed Eliard which is the Shrine of Adyr at Fitzroy's Gorge to find Adyr's Stigma in front of the throne. Soulflay it while in the Umbral realm to acquire the Remembrance of Adyr the Bereft Exile, then view the boss items that you can trade with Molhu at Skyrest Bridge.

How Many Endings are there in Lords of the Fallen?

Lords of the Fallen (LotF) features Endings, the Radiance, Inferno, and Umbral Ending. By unlocking a certain ending, players will be able to unlock a new starting class that they can try at the start of an NG+ Cycle. These are the following NG+ Classes:

Gameplay Changes in NG+ for Lords of the Fallen

When you beat the game or complete the main story, players will return to Skyrest Bridge where they can continue to roam around the different locations or hop into Online mode to help a random player or their friend with their progression or invade a player's world and duel it out in PvP. In New Game Plus, Enemies will have increased health and damage output, as mentioned, NPC Questlines will reset along with the world, and you can reacquire items that you find as loot, purchased, or obtained as rewards. As for unique items that you acquire as duplicates, depending on the item, you instead gain currencies such as Vigor or Umbral Scouring.

Boss Remembrances unfortunately, will not be carried over, and you need to defeat the Colossal Sentinels or Colossal Bosses (Main Bosses) of the game to reacquire their remembrance which can be used when interacting with Molhu in Skyrest Bridge.

In conjunction with Boss Remembrances, players are still required to reacquire the Bowl of Revelations that is found in Pilgrim's Perch and to give the item to Molhu to unlock the "Offer Remembrance" feature.

Don't. Just don't bother. This game has DS2 style new game plus where the damage seems to get doubled on your first damn tier of NG. This punishes mistakes far too hard in a game filled with inconsistent enemies and movement, but it also increases enemy health and maybe resistances so much that basically any weapon becomes DRASTICALLY worse.

If I ng+1 for a different ending on my main character. Will npcs that I killed my first play through be brought back for my new playthrough?

        • Anonymous

Even now NG+1 is just... no thanks. Had this issue with the anime SoulsLike game, Code Vein. You had NG+0 which just reset the board, and then NG+1. Holy f***ing hell everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, could 1-2(maybe 3 occasionally) hit kill you while you were chipping away at ridiculous health sponges. At least Dark Souls trilogy, Demon's Souls(PS3), Elden Ring and Bloodborne didn't pull this crap on NG+1.

I think something is wrong with ng+0. Its supposed to be the same difficulty as base game, butnwith all the gear i have as in easy mode to finish quests? In menu i have restart game in +1, however bosses hit way harder, drop more vigor and i could swear there is less vestiges. I seriously cant recall hushed saint oneshotting me first time, now he does pretty easily.

            • Anonymous

If I restart the NG+0, the enemies will have the same vigor drop they had before? 'Cause if it is, its a bit sad (but I understand anyway)

              • Anonymous

The difficulty of the bosses grows exponentially. I was really excited to replay the game with a different ending, but killing some bosses feels like an impossible task especially since you are basically dealing the same amount of damage, but they have 10 times more hp

                • Anonymous

I onky have the option to restart newgame +1. I don't have the option to chose +1 or +0. How can I fix this?

                  • Anonymous

Can I make a request dev's. And I've posted this other places but nobody responds maybe somebody can give me an upvote to get attention it would be such a quality of life improvement if you did a quick swap feature between catalysts and throwables or bows. As it stands now in the middle of combat you have to open a menu scroll to the item you want to switch to close the menu screen all the while being attacked by mobs of enemies or another player. This is something that could be easily be fixed like a switch between the lantern and catalyst at the bottom. One more left click or up click or something like that switches between fist and catalyst for example that would make such a big difference with such little effort

                    • Anonymous

Is the increase in difficulty paired with an expected increase in vigor dropped by enemies? I haven't been able to find any information about that

To HEXWORKS I’d like to say I’m really excited for the NG+ Modifier & I really hope you guys continue working on it and multiple dlcs. Lords of the fallen is my favorite game and I’m dying for more

                        • Anonymous

I have a theory that the good people at Hexworks don't actually PLAY videogames if they think that a) making your checkpoints a consumable is a good mechanic that people will enjoy and that b) reducing them further on NG+ is a fun challenge.

A mod that gave you unlimited seedlings and made them not despawn when you planted another one would make this game significantly better. At that point there would be too many checkpoints, but it would be a lot better than the current system which is basically a test of how annoying you find it to teleport back to the vendor frequently.

i started new game plus before the patch and i’m not enjoying the running is there anyway to restart without new game plus

                            • Anonymous

This is incorrect that you are given an option to choose to play another Ng after completing your first playthrough, at least not on PS5 as of 26/10. I just finished the game and the only option was Ng+1.

So I have been playing NG+ for the past few days. Latest patches hit, vestiges appear, all is fun and games and then I reached Tancred. 2 phase fight, 1 shots in NG+1, LITERALY 50k hp in both phases(maybe more but a posture break of 5k dmg would do about 10% visually) - 15 min to kill this. Killed Abess Ursula after. In NG she's like 5k hp in NG+ she's like 50k hp. How does late game bosses scaling work LOL. In souls games in NG+7 late game bosses had a hp increase of 40%, and here it is already 1000% in ng +1. I really can't see myself spamming NG cycles to have fun with complete builds. Tancred already felt like SL1 challenge.

Anybody in NG++ or NG+++ yet? Does the boss HP and qttack stats still increase? LoF 1 and DS had like 7 NG+ boosting bosses or so right?

Any idea on how to access the different versions of NG+ they've now introduced.
I have a character that's finished the game and I was waiting to rollover to NG+ after they released the patch, but I only see one option NG+1

i startet ng+ after last patch but there are NOOOOOO vestiges at all not a single one. also no option to make a reset. playing on ps5 and bit pissed currently. that way ng is just a pain in the ass. anything insta kills you and the bosses are godlike with endless health pools

                                      • Anonymous

I wonder if there will be a option in the ng+ modifier that allows you to decrease the ng+ circle (from ng+ 3 back to ng+ 1 or 2)

                                        • Anonymous

hexworks have this stupid idea that less vestiges means more challenging game mechanic and think most gamers like this mechanic. in reality, less vestiges = more tedious gameplay, cheap trick to extend a game life, increase chances of a broken tv/controller thru rages. this is not a good mechanic for soul games. hope other dont follow suit.

                                          • Anonymous

I guess the devs don’t want you to complete quest lines because you got me ****ed up if you think I’m walking my ass through the entire mines and depths areas just to do Exacter Dunmire’s quest line on NG+. Removing vestiges is easily the worst change I have ever seen a developer make. That should be a challenge toggle, not baseline for NG+. Normal vestiges weee already rare with 1 in most areas and 2 max. I don’t understand why the devs think that tedium = hard.

                                            • Anonymous

there is no different rings or necklaces like in other soulsgames that you get a +1/+2/+3.... i dont think its worth it playing NG+ besides challenging bosses harder.

                                              • Anonymous

No vestige is fine. Just use a vestige seed, go back to the main hub then buy more at Molhu. I'm currently doing it and everything is fine. Btw, some "shortcuts" are already open like the door before Pieta that brings you to the Upper Calrath, you can cleanse that beacon and even fight the Lightreaper right at the start of the game, and i'm pretty sure that it makes you skip the Spurned Progeny, Lower Calrath and the mines. Only thing i would complain is how unbalanced some bosses are, some like Hushed Saint are ok but MAN the Lightreaper tears through your butt so easily. Anyway, long text just to say that the "no vestige" problem isn't that bad considering that the NG+ purpose is just to 100% the game with the all Weapons/Armors/Stigmas/Bosses achievements. If you just want to enjoy the game then just make a different character, let the NG+ be that way for people who either want a challenge and/or the platinum trophy.

                                                • Anonymous

                                                  NG+ vestiges is getting fixed:

We hear you. And have decided to roll out some fundamental changes to ensure everyone continues to enjoy the NG+ experience, including both those who have relished the no-vestige challenge and those who would rather they were still present throughout the world.

From today's patch onward, now when you complete your initial playthrough, you will be presented with a new option before embarking on your next runthrough; you can either progress directly to the next consecutive NG (i.e if you’ve just completed NG+1, you would move onto NG+2), or you can replay the current NG at the same difficulty, albeit retaining your character, items and progression, but resetting the entire world, including NPCs and questlines. This will allow trophy hunters and completionists to seek out any outstanding tasks without having to contend with increased difficulty, should they so choose.

A further patch this coming Thursday will see further updates made to the NG+ mode; instead of removing all vestiges (as it does currently), NG+1 will only see a few disappear while keeping the key locations intact. In NG+2, a few more will disappear, and then in NG+3 all but the main HUB (Skyrest Bridge) and Adyr's Shrine vestige will disappear. This way, our initial vision remains intact but is more of a gradual adaptation, awaiting those who seek increasing levels of challenge.

Lastly, as a follow up to the popular announcement made during last week’s stream, we can confirm we have started designing the "NG+ modifier system", allowing players to fully customize their NG+ experience, whether that’s retaining all vestiges, keeping just a few, or removing them completely. It will also include other fun modifiers like a "hardcore" mode (1 death = permadeath), item randomizers, enemy randomizers, etc. The feature set is yet to be fully defined, but our current intention is to release the modifier system before the end of the year.

Devs clearly said they are not going to change the vestige design in NG+... their argument?
                                                    - Just because someone said it's not fun, it does not mean other people don't like it, it's just one person's opinion, someone likes it, and someone don't"
I wish they had the balls to run a poll... so they would really understand how many people like it.
Such a dumb design choice... where is the fun in running back and forth through all those convoluted areas just to go talk to NPCs or back to doors you did not have the key for when you fond them the first time?!

                                                    • Anonymous

If the devs haven’t caught on by now , no vestiges is a stupid choice. They are delusional if they said the the majority of players are stoked on it. Worst idea ever. I won’t be playing it

                                                      • Anonymous

Yeah I noped the heck out when I realized there are no vestiges in NG+...

A really dumb design choice in my opinion, since you can easily afford seedlings in NG+ and flower beds are often closer to bosses than actual vestiges. So at the end of the day, all this is doing is just making the game more tedious to play, not more challenging.

                                                        • Anonymous

i never found any fun in ng+ anyways, i always prefer to start a new character. good thing hexworks made ng+ as unappealing as possible!

                                                          • Anonymous

There are way more seedlings then there are vestiges. 1200 Vigor is easy easy to come by in NG+ making stocking up on Seedlings a breeze and I think it adds a challenge to the game. That is why I play these games right...? Just asking my self that.

                                                            • Anonymous

I don't mind that there are no respawn to vestiges but could they at least keep them for teleporting sake? Apparently for the Umbral ending you have to warp back and forth constantly to some pit for errands and for the Adyr ending you have to revisit EACH AND EVERY SHRINE. Not a big deal normally but without vestiges this is an excruciating chore, especially considering how loopy and maze like each level is.

                                                              • I'm fine with no vestiges, but it would've been a bit better if we can acquire upgraded versions of the rings same in the DS series. Like +1 and +2 variants.

                                                                • Anonymous

                                                                  • Anonymous

This is complete nonsense, there are no vestiges, if we die, we will be born from the back and we have to pass all the enemies in all the levels again. This game cannot be played like this. If I had known, I would not have bought it. I bought the deluxe edition just to enjoy it. There is no ng+ vestiges. Fix this with the update, otherwise all players will stop playing this game. Thank you.

                                                                    • Anonymous

                                                                        • Anonymous

No vestiges in NG+ is a huge let down... i am not going to start NG+ until this is fixed, which may be never. I personally think this design choice is going to hurt their finances, none wanted a game to become more tedious in NG+ instead of more challenging. I am reading comments of players that were unsure about buying the game, and have now decided not to because of this "feature". Also this affects re-playability which inevitable case the game to abandoned faster by many players.

                                                                          • Anonymous

Then one you take after cleasing all the flames to get to the last area. Does that mean theres a quick way to finish the other endings? I tried to run over to the castle gate but you have to beat the Lightreaper to get past. I keep dying, so either he is much stronger or my new build sucks (I beat him near crows nest in first playthrough). Im Curious if the gate will open or if you have to go fight the colossul bosses aagin.

                                                                            • Anonymous

Feels like NG+ is when your build is final and you plan to just play the game without planning to go back to he hub, there are no vestiges, you have to plant them which is not bad but it also means you cant warp to places.

                                                                              • Anonymous

I'm not seeing anywhere in this article any mention of the fact that there are no 'bonfires' in the game in NewGame+ That seems pretty important to point out. Seems better to just start a fresh character. NG+ seems kinda needlessly annoying. Theres just some really weird choices by the devs here... yeesh. I hope they patch just giving you all classes for any ending because playing through the whole game 3 times to what, play through again but with more choices of classes seems stupid. Most people would be sick of the game by then.

                                                                                  • Anonymous

Do you have to play through the entire game like 3 times to get all classes? That seems... a bit much :/ Like a few starting classes don't seem worth playing through the whole game 3 times.
