Lords of the Fallen Umbral Lamp Guide
The Umbral Lamp is one of the mechanics that separates Lords of the Fallen (LotF) from other games in the souls-like genre, it's what defines the player's character as a lampbearer fighting against the demon god. The lamp allows the user to touch the Umbral Realm, the plane of the dead. With it, players can, for as long as they hold the lamp in front of them, show and interact with a part of this deadly realm.
Illuminating the Umbral in Lords of the FAllen
While holding the lantern up you can show the same section you are illuminating in Axiom but in Umbral, allowing you to make use of the death realm's layout to overcome certain obstacles. Some enemies may also interact with you from this realm forcing you to find them with the lamp to defeat them. White moths will indicate points of interest worth illuminating.
How to Travel between Worlds in Lords of the Fallen
Soulflaying in Lords of the Fallen
When fighting the different Enemies in Mournstead you may use Soulflay on them, if they can be affected by the ability you will see their soul leaving their bodies and be able to attack said soul. This will deal wither damage and give you the opportunity to, if fully withered, tear the soul of Enemies and Bosses. Soulflaying consumes a Soulflay Charge, to recharge it you will have to drain Umbral Enemies and Blisters.
Location Obstacles in Lords of the Fallen
When traveling through the Umbral you will find certain objects in the terrain that can be soulflayed by your Umbral Lamp. You can find things such as bridges that can be activated through a lost soul or items unique to this realm that can only be obtained in this way. Some pathways in the Axiom will need a quick travel to the death realm to continue exploring, and there are puzzles that require the traversal between planes.
Umbral Lamp Upgrade Benefits
Like the Sanguinarix, the Umbral grows and receives additional features after upgrading it. Such as having more Eyes that players can socket to, or even increasing its Soulflay Charges. As well as improve status resistance from Dread. Upgrading the Umbral Lamp is one of the things that players should prioritize as it can be a wondrous tool that is beneficial in many aspects. Players, on the other hand, need Antediluvian Chisel for them to upgrade the Umbral Lamp.

Taking Advantage of Soulflay Charges
One of the reasons why players need to upgrade their Umbral Lamp is to increase the number of Soulflay Charges. A Soulflay is a feature in combat wherein the Umbral Lamp will siphon the soul of the enemy out from its mortal coil. While the soul is exposed, players can then deal damage to it, resulting in immense damage overall to the target. Use the Soulflay to overcome challenging foes and anyone will find it a good strategy to exploit.
Where to Acquire Antediluvian Chisel on LotF?
It is expected that the Antediluvian Chisel is a rare material scattered across the realm. Players can get it as general loot from secret areas, hidden treasure chests, and drops from elite and major bosses.
Each Umbral Eye has a different effect, depending on what socket you will slot it into. This feature adds another layer of possible augments to your character build. Players can take advantage of a wide variety of added effects that Umbral Eyes provides. As usual, it is expected that Umbral Eyes can be obtained as drops from enemies or rare loot in the realm.
