How to obtain the Dark Crusader Class in Lords of the Fallen
- The Dark Crusader can be accessed early by players who purchased the Deluxe Edition of the game.
- The other way of obtaining the Dark Crusader class is by completing Isaac's questline.
Paladin Isaac's Questline
Important Note: You cannot complete this questline if you kill the Lightreaper without summoning Isaac. This game will give you 3 chances to kill the Lightreaper in different zones. Do not kill him. Wait until the fourth and final time to kill him after summoning Isaac.
- First, you have to obtain the Flayed Skin. It is obtained very early in the game, in the area where you fought the Lightreaper for the first time, turn right. Reach the broken bridge to find the item. In Umbral there is a path leading to Isaac's body but it is currently blocked off.
- Then you have to examine a series of Stigmas that depict Isaac's mission as a lampbearer. There are four of them in total.
- The first one can be found at the start of Lower Calrath, the one that grants you the Wooden Dark Crusader Cross.
- The second one at the start of the Fief of the Chill Curse
- The third one is also at the Fief of the Chill Curse. Beyond the Lightreaper's arena
- The fourth and final one is in the Path of Devotion
- This unlocks access to an arena in the Path of Devotion, only in Umbral. As you examine the Stigma, an Umbral version of Isaac will spawn. Defeat him to receive Umbral-Tinged Flayed Skin.
- You can also find another Stigma in Upper Calrath showing a fight between Isaac and the Lightreaper. Note that this is not necessary for further progression on the quest.
- Return to the place in Abandoned Redscope, and open the blocked umbral path using the Umbral-Tinged Flayed Skin, in which you can obtain the Paladin's Armor Set, Paladin Isaac's Sword and Paladin Isaac's Rosary.
- Once you complete the quest, the Umbral version of Isaac will become available as a summon in the fight against the Lightreaper in Upper Calrath
Lords of the Fallen Dark Crusader Notes & Tips
- The Dark Crusader is only a starting Class if you own the Deluxe Edition of Lords of the Fallen. Otherwise you must unlock it via playing the game.
- The Dark Crusader class in Lords of the Fallen (LotF) is a powerful melee class with Radiant powers, and a Longsword capable of massive sweeps and deadly vertical strikes. The Dark Crusader is indomitable in melee, even more so than the Hallowed Knight. While it lacks in the ranged department, it makes up for it with excellent physical protection.
- The Dark Crusader can charge into enemies, wielding the sword in the two-handed stance, and performing devastating spins, and few can withstand the onslaught, especially early game.
- Strength will help with the melee damage and keep up with the heavier weapon requirements. Endurance for Stamina and carrying capacity, and for maintaining a reasonable encumbrance. And of course, Radiance to be able to cast more advanced protective spells.

"This game will give you 3 chances to kill the Lightreaper in different zones." and lightreaper took that seriously??? Like we can kill hiö with that stats???

Am I stuck in doing this or Kukajin's quest? If I summon them, then die, does it count as summoning them? Or do I need to summon them and then actually beat the boss for it to count? Unfortunately, I'm in my second playthrough and I didn't successfully follow either of their quest lines my first time around.

For anyone who was confused about Paladin Isaac's Rosary and the unlock conditions for Dark Crusader:
The Rosary drops from the Lightreaper if you complete the other quest steps and summon Paladin Isaac for the Lightreaper fight in Upper Calrath.
Once you defeat the Lightreaper with Paladin Isaac's help (Isaac doesn't have to live), you will get the Rosary and instantly unlock the class and get the achievement "Vengeful Reflection".
*The Rosary is NOT found with the armour set and sword.

Question how early can you get this without paying for it? Would you need to beat the game in order to even use it?

Did the questline and nothing unlocked? Restarted, still nothing.

And if you killed Lightreaper before doing Isaac quest or not summoning him you don't unlock it. Such a pain in the ass to unlock this Dark Crusader.

I locked myself out of this quest because although I've done everything I didn't see his summon sign before Lightreaper (I did not know), but like with Kukajin's quest maybe I was supposed to lose first in Upper Calrath for sign to appear?
