Putrid Child is a Class in Lords of the Fallen (LotF). Putrid Child has embraced Umbral and has overall good stats for spellcasting, but not as good for close combat situations. The Putrid Child class is unlocked after achieving the Umbral Ending. Classes determine both the starting Equipment and Stats for players, but during the course of the game, players can decide to alter their build to a playstyle that suits them better. There are a total of 9 Starting Classes available in Lords of the Fallen (LOTF), as well as 4 that have to be unlocked.
One who has gazed into the truth beyond the shroud and been born anew in the glory of the Putrid Mother, revelling in atrophy and manipulating death itself. An advanced class for those certain that supremacy lies in the eternal power of Umbral, not base conjurings or ephemeral flesh of steel.

Lords of the Fallen Putrid Child Notes & Tips
- Putrid Child is NOT a starting class in the game. This class is only available after finishing the game once, and is rewarded if the player has achieved the Umbral Ending. You cannot change to this class with NG+, you have to start a new character.
- Putrid Child is a caster that possesses a good balance between the Radiance and Inferno Stats. The starting weapons, both the Putrid Child Sword and the Putrid Child Catalyst, are ideal for this class since they scale with both of these stats.
- All three Spells that Putrid Child starts with, one way or another, deal damage. Lingering Despair creates stationary orbs of Umbral Magic that explode upon impact, Putrefaction summons a mist that poisons enemies, dealing damage over time, and finally Diminishing Missile summons a homing missile that reduces attack and defense upon striking a target.
All you need is to farm for 2 pickaxes and you won't even need to level up

To be honest, this class felt pretty anemic early in the game. I was just wailing away with the Putrid Child Sword to kill even basic enemies. It starts to pick up around maybe Lower Calrath and started feeling pretty beastly by the time you get to the mines. I dropped the Putrid Child Sword for dual wielded fungal pickaxes and started wrecking things immediately.

Class definitely could've been a base roster one; when you look at the stats, but people saying its weak are underselling how strong umbral builds can get, fairly quickly.
Just like Radiant focused classes; you can grab a ton of useful stuff right from Skyrest Bridge merchants, and poison on top of wither damage just means you are dishing out tons of respectable damage. I'd actually argue that; if this class was just a base one, it'd be Infernal being seen as the worst starting casters (which they kind of are; despite really picking up mid-to-late game).

Just looking at the starting stats, I can tell this ain't it. Considering how confusing of a questline you need to do to unlock this, I think the level count should at least be equal to the Lord class. This is supposed to be a reward for clearing the game, so make it worth it.

This Class feels dreadful to play.
Debuffs and dots are fine if you have damage to accompany them but this has no damage. Anything at range will destroy you while your only option is the diminishing missile which at 20/20 radiance and inferno does 38 damage on the first cast.
You could switch that out for umbral orb but that's split wither damage as well.
The poison cloud doesn't have much range and enemies will walk out of it before the dot procs. Even when it does the damage is low other than on the absolute trash.
The orb spell is another cast and hope something walks into it ability and the weapon is half physical half wither so you deal next to no upfront damage.
Maybe Umbral builds payoff later in the game but so far this is a struggle.

This class is a struggle to get through the early game with.
With lowest starting str and agi this is the most efficient starting class for pure magic
