They tried really hard to force this into a mid game weapon only. The STR scaling just tanks at C+ after +6 and it's way overshadowed by other quality axes like Kinragnr Guardian or Executioner. A shame since it's the coolest looking one and it could have been the axe for pure STR builds.

this thing is really fast and has a good moveset but it's not that good on rune slots.

This axe loses to Tundra axe until hig str (40-50) and also has shitty rune slots.

Really solid STR weapon that you can get early on. 2 handed aoe has insane stagger and invincibility

Quite a nice axe, 1h moveset has wide swings and 2h has downward bonks.
Found this axe close to the start of the Forsaken Fen. From the start, run through the water in Umbral form, keep going until you see another pool of what would be water on your left with a steep path down, at the bottom is a guy on a wall you can pull out with your lamp that drops the axe.
I really wish there was more reason to use this (and Tundra axe) for pure str builds. Grand swords like skin and tooth have more reach, more damage, and status effects. I prefer the grand axe moveset though and stuck with this for almost the whole game. I started dual wielding with Tundra axe when the damage wasn't cutting it anymore, but towards the end of Bramis Castle I had both axes +10 and leveling str did not give any more damage.
I didn't want to give up the grand axe moveset so I upgraded two Kinrangr Guardian axes to +10 and started levelling agility. Not only do they do more damage, they also do frostbite for extra fun. Angel and Tundra are good early to mid game, but I think by the time you get through Fief of the Chill Curse you're better off either switching to a different weapon class or switching to a quality build.
