Does wither count as a status for that amulet that increases dmg per status debuff?

Wither damage may seem counter intuitive, but when specced into properly it does the highest amount of damage. You can shred enemy health rapidly with it. The downside is that if you get hit by that enemy they will recover. There is even an Umbral Eye that allows for dedicated Wither builds.

I like the idea of this damage type. You would assume, though, that this damage type would ignore defenses or something because of its downside. What balances this to the other damage types? Is it just strictly unfavorable?

I'm using a spear with wither damage on it but what exactly is the point of using this damage against a enemy where just straight up damage would be better. Now I just give them opportunity to get some HP back. Anyone know what the advantage is of using this against enemies?

If an enemy has 100% of their remaining health withered, you can perform an Umbral Finisher. Theres an achievement for it.
Cool, and element that does not kill and allows to recover lost health back. Should have changed if used on enemies, it doesn't make sense.
