This sword f***s, carried me through the majority of the game and makes me feel like proper paladin of flame. Get this weapon, it'll treat you right

I think that guy in front of Pieta, surrounded by enemies and his dog, is made to not drop his items or at least has greatly reduced drop chance. I was killing him for maybe an hour while waiting for summon and invasions, using umbral finisher and even lucky paws and I didnt get a single item from him.

Compared to the first village guy you meet, he drops at least something on almost every kill and every few kills give you piece of his equipment.
Most probably because that first guy is surrounded by enemies that can technically kill him for you.

Advice needed: Is this is a weapon worth upgrading (and viable for a whole playthrough?) Going with a tanky-pyro-fashion build atm but don't wish to spank materials if there are better big-hitting Str/Inf weapons.

Like some of the comments below, this dropped first time from the first proselyte for me. No idea if starting class has anything to do with it (Dank Crusader in this case) a recent patch, or dumb luck.

I got this on the first try like another commentor. Given the dates of the comments, this may have been patched to increase the drop rate or ensure it drops the first time.

Well worth farming for. Very powerful for a longsword. At +3 on my STR/INF character, I hardly feel a difference compared to my +3 Angel´s Axe, which is a great axe with nominally signinficantly higher damage and stagger. Looks very good for knight-type characters too. Remember to us soulflay and umbral finisher when farming, the drop rate really seems to be better.

Sitting on about 80k souls, multiple sets of the armor and all kinds fire salts and cures, and finally dropped the sword. So about 160 kills here.

Just started the game with Inferno with a Strength-Inferno build in mind. I realized the lack of Inferno-scaling equipment at the start. Got this as a drop and is carrying me so far. Are there better weapons that can be used in md- to late-game?

Only took about an hour today to farm the entire armor set along with this sword. I don’t even know what my item discovery rating is if that’s a thing. First dude in Redcopse. Maybe they boosted the drop rates?

                      • Anonymous

People saying they are farming left and right... I got the second today and THEN noticed who it drops from. Don't know when I got the first but it's my favorite sword. Dual now is amazing. Sadly a lot of enemies are fire resistant in Caldera.

                        • The fire damage has no scaling, only the physical. I haven't unlocked runes yet though, so maybe that can be changed. Idk what the runes actually do.

This means that the bonus physical damage from scaling will be about half of what it is compared to the Crimson Rector Sword, since it goes off the base damage.

After farming for 13 hours half of which were on the guy before Peita and the other half on the first one you meet, i FINALLY have the sword! 3 legs, 1 glove, 1 chest.

I farmed the first one you encounter in te starting area for about 5 hours. I've gotten 3 sword's, 4 chest pieces, 4 leg pieces, 1 headpiece and some consumables. I still need the gloves ! The droprates are super low !

FYI: i tested it with cheats... i have 100% drop rate and the proselyte before the bossfight does NOT drop anything.

the other enemies (Marksman, Avowed etc.) also dront drop anything here. seems to be another weakened version since they also drop almost no vigor

Farmed for 6 hours and dident get anything from them, joined a friends game and his first kill dropped the leg.

Took me around four hours to get this to drop from the proselyte in the starting area. For once, it was absolutely worth it. Super sweet moveset. If you are into ‘greatswords’ you’re in for a real treat.
