I killed him 120 times to get it (using rings, runes and eye)

About 70 kills at 5.98 item discovery. Dropped by magic attack. (not an umbral finisher / PS5)
I planted seeds in the area beyond the door unlocked with the key next to 'Anturi's Traces' to turn it into a farm.

Seems like the drop chances for this are low but random. Got it after my 5th kill (not an umbral finisher) with a 2.53 Item Discovery.

It took me 25 tries with umbral finisher - every time it leaves an item - mostly runes, but finally got teh cleaver.

I have killed around 200 skinstealers or more with no drop, then I decided to give the umbral finisher a go and it finally dropped after around 20 more tries with the finisher. Not sure if this was random but I do think there is something to it since Ive seen people here in the comments mention it aswell.

I am getting only spear and shield drops from a guy that has two cleavers in his hands. This is comical.

Can confirm this item will only drop with Umbral finisher. After trying for 3 hours without it dropped 4th attempt with Umbral finisher

This item has the worst drop rate I have ever seen. I've killed 250+ skinstealers with three item discovery boosts active (umbral eye, ring, and shield rune) without getting this. My sanity has taken a massive hit.

Not a guaranteed drop by the boss, but skinstealer is one of those bosses, that turn into a regular mob later in the game. I farmed it from the regular mob in bramis castle.

Umbral finishers can really help imo as well. The third finisher gave it to me.
