Realm Umbral
Enemy Group Umbral Native

Umbral Parasite is an Enemy in Lords of the Fallen (LotF). Umbral parasites manage to breach through the veil between the realms and attach themselves to Axiom creatures, slowly feeding on their vigor but empowering them so that they can become stronger and absorb even more vigor. Lords of the Fallen features a variety of enemies that come from three groups, the Umbral Natives, Rhogar Enemies, and Hallowed Sentinels, each one having its own set of moves, strengths, and weaknesses that pose a threat and a challenge to the lamp bearer. By defeating an enemy, players can acquire various drops such as items and vigor.

I think the devs did well with this concept. Some parasites don't even matter if your build is powered enough. You can take out enemies without worrying about the parasite. However, it's also really cool concept in practice because some parasite absolutely need to be removed or your going to die trying to fight the enemy. This gave the devs a lot of control of situational difficulty.

I had even seen at the Bell Tower where the PureBlade and Marksman did not have a parasite and one patch later they both did. I assume they were maybe too close and easy to farm to the vestige.
