Lords of the Fallen Elianne the Starved's Sword Notes & Tips

  • Hidden Lore: The Hallowed Sentinels never suspected the true nature of the incredible power they sensed inside the orphan Elianne, for it would have meant her death. Instead, the child born of flesh and Umbral was indoctrinated with a lie and moulded in the light of the Cleric. (Requires Inferno and Radiance to unlock)
  • Weight: 5.1
  • Has a weapon art. The player must dual-wield Pieta's Sword and Elianne the Starved's Sword and meet a secret requirement.
  • The secret requirement to using the secret weapon ability is upgrading both weapons to +5 and having the Odd Stone in the player's inventory. Make sure to equip both weapons and then interact or speak to Pieta and choose "Use the Odd Stone". There should be an effect that triggers after presenting the stone to her.
  • To use the weapon ability press the L2+R2 buttons or the LT+RT of the PlayStation/Xbox controller.

The first question is. WHY IS THE SPECIAL ATTACK SO DAMN USELESS? you literally do more damage pressing Light attack->Light attack->Light attack than doing the special. The recovery on this move is so awful as well that spamming the move is pointless. Secondly, This weapon has no status effect build-up and has 1 meta slot and inferno slot. With how weapon is designed and how looks, the sword is intended to be used with 2 frostbite runes and your suppose use umbral weapon but umbral weapon also has no status effect build-up. Even if this weapon did work correctly, it would still suck because it deals no posture damage for pressing Light/Light/Light. The only logical build with this weapon is to run 2 inferno ignite runes, Put on inferno weapon and equip wildfire ring with Infernal ring to make ignite/smite build. The weapon still sucks but it sucks less now.

The 3 buffs this weapon needs to be relevant
      1) More damage on special like 2x damage.
      2) More posture damage on duel light attack
      3) 90 frostbite build-up and Umbral weapon to properly have 60 frostbite.

This sword requires 20 INF but does not scale from it. If you want to dual wield Pieta's with something decent, go for the Flickering Flail. It also has smite and is tiny bit stronger than Pieta's when both are at 10.

Want to dual wield this baby with Pieta's but you don't want to raise Inferno? Crafter's Essence is your friend.

Unfortunately, despite being a mirror of Pieta's and available far later than Pieta's, this sword is really bad.

It needs Frostbite equivalent to the Smite on Pieta's. Give it Infernal scaling equal to its Radiance scaling, making it a higher damage potential weapon but also far riskier due to it primarily dealing regeneratable Wither damage. Move the Holy damage to Physical - it's an Umbral-corrupted version of Pieta's, it should just have Holy converted to Wither, this version makes no sense.

At the same time, comparing it to Pieta's isn't strictly fair, because Pieta's is an extremely early game weapon that outclasses close to every other weapon in the game, a symptom of this game's extreme balance issues.

This more than any other weapon in the game DESPERATELY needs a buff. Umbral stat requirement but no umbral scaling, no status build up, worse damage than it's holy counterpart. Considering it is a blade of umbral energy and the game literally says "the effects of umbral give those who encounter it a feeling of numbing cold" (or something along those lines) I'm dumbfounded that they didn't include the status on the weapon, seems a bit of an oversight. Hell, every time you cast umbral spells you even start to build up frostbite on yourself just for casting it.... This weapons should have FROSTBITE! Lol

Want to run a Radiant build but hate the Pieta sword meta? Want to use an objectively worse weapon to level the playing field? Then look no further! Try our blue version, with no status build up, Worse damage due to split scaling, and to top it off... Wither damage! the worst damage type. All seriousness i'll use this all day, but please Hexworks... give it frostbite at least

So is nobody talking about the design flaw where immediately after you kill Elliane you have to create ALL her gear if you want it? As soon as you talk to Molhu it asks to go into Mother's Lull which kills him. Thus preventing you from creating anything else. And rememberances don't carry into NG+. In my haste and not expecting the first option when I speak to him to be to travel, I lost my only opportunity. Huge design flaw.

Considering the fact that you kill the ONLY blacksmith in the game before getting that sword, you'd either have to upgrade it in NG+ or drop it to someone and reload your save before you use the seedbugs on the NPCs, ooof

Not sure if this works with two of Pieta's or two of Elianne's, but when you dual wield Pieta's sword along with Elianne's sword, the combo attack (Guard + Heavy) will create explosions of radiant thorns and umbral splashes in front of you as you do the default dual sword/spear combo attack animation.

very disappointing compared to pieta's variant.
-inf requirement with no inf scaling (pietas req. rad only and rad only scaling)
-no smite or frost status buildup (pietas 100 smite buildup)
-split damage (pietas pure holy dmg)

unless you're going for the aesthetic, or like wither dmg specifically, stick to pieta's.
better yet - this is an endgame weapon, just NG+ and dual wield pietas.
