Where to find Kukajin in Lords of the Fallen
Kukajin can initially be found at Forsaken Fen in her petrified state. NOTE: Attacking her or rolling over her while she is petrified will kill her and automatically lock players out of her questline. See it on the LotF Forsaken Fen Map.
- Nearest Vestige: Vestige of Valade
- This NPC moves to Skyrest Bridge after healing her with any Radiant Healing Spell such as Cleansing Spring or Sanctify which removes status effects, or you can even throw an Empyrean Grenade at her - freeing her from her Petrified state.
- Upper Calrath B
- Kukajin will disappear forever after completing her companion quest and will leave rewards for you to collect.
If you fight and defeat her (failing to pay her if she is beckoned in certain boss fights), drops:
Kukajin can be beckoned to assist you in the following boss fights:
- The Hushed Saint - 3,000 Vigor
- Harrower Dervla, the Pledged Knight / The Unbroken Promise - 7,000 Vigor
- The Hollow Crow - 6,000 Vigor
- Tancred, Master of Castigations / Reinhold the Immured - 7,500 Vigor
- Judge Cleric, the Radiant Sentinel - 8,500 Vigor
- Lightreaper - 8,500 Vigor
- The Sundered Monarch - 9,000 Vigor
NOTE: Missing a payment to Kukajin (not paying her after a boss fight and defeating the next one, or not summoning her for one of these) will cause this quest to fail. Also, this quest cannot be done in the same run than The paladin's Quest (except if you back up your save)
Important note: To complete this quest, you must summon Kukajin at the final Lightreaper boss fight. This means you cannot kill the boss in previous encounters to finish this quest. Additionally, if you choose to summon Kukajin, you will lock completion of the Paladin's Request quest which requires Paladin Isaac to be summoned at the Lightreaper boss fight.
How to Free the Petrified Woman in Forsaken Fen LotF
As you explore Forsaken Fen, you will hear humming sounds coming from a cave, and if you follow that sound, you will come across a petrified woman. You will find out that she is a mercenary for hire and was traveling with a Sorcerer who goes by the name of Wilmarc. She shares that the sorcerer told her that if she let him envigorate her skin with his magic, it would toughen her skin against harm, however, it turned out that she would become petrified. You can also see that there's an item right behind Kukajin but you can't pick it up yet because her body is blocking it.
She goes on to tell you that she was hired by the sorcerer for protection during his journey to Mournstead but she said that the sorcerer ran off when creatures started to show up as soon as she started petrifying. As you exhaust her dialogues, she tells you "Get this damn thing off me and I'll be in your debt. And who doesn't appreciate having a favor in the pocket?"
To free the Petrified Woman, you can make use of any Radiant Healing spell that heals status effects like Cleansing Spring or Sanctify or the throwing items Empyrean Grenade or Radiantburst Parchment to help turn her from the petrified state and return to a blood and flesh state. After doing so, she recognizes that you are familiar with Magic and she will give you a 1x Pendant of Induration. She tells you that it is better off in your hands, after all, she was taught by her father to stay away from Magic.
After helping Kukajin, she will move to the Hub at the Skyrest Bridge where she awaits you. You can also return to this place after she had moved into the alcove at Skyrest Bridge to get Wilmarc's Catalyst which was previously blocked by her petrified body.
Lords of the Fallen Kukajin Full Questline Walkthrough
Kukajin's Companion Quest
After restoring Kukajin to her flesh and blood state, she will be grateful for your help. She will also recognize that you are able to wield Magic by using any of the Radiant Healing spells like Cleansing Spring or Sanctify on her and thus, she will give you a 1x Pendant of Induration, an item that she had won from a dice game. Kukajin has a penchant for avoiding magic, and will even warn you against using the lamp despite not knowing what it can do. Afterward, she will tell you to meet at Skyrest Bridge where she will offer her services.
Kukajin will not immediately move from her location so she will still be blocking the item at her back. Simply rest at the nearby Vestige and return to her spot to retrieve x1 Wilmarc's Catalyst. Then, travel back to Skyrest Bridge and you will find Kukajin in one of the alcoves in the sleeping chambers next to the Main Hall. This time, she will formally introduce herself as Kukajin, of the Envenomed, one of the finest mercenary company before. She tells you that she has heard of the responsibilities asked of you and has offered to help you in exchange for a small fee.
She says that while she is grateful, she is not an idiot who will put her life on the line for free. She said that you can beckon her to help you out in fights and expects payment afterward. She puts it simply in a way that she helps you out, you pay her, and both of you remain good friends. Otherwise, it will complicate things. Summon Kukajin to help you in the following boss fights to complete her quest:
- The Hushed Saint - 3,000 Vigor
- Harrower Dervla, the Pledged Knight / The Unbroken Promise - 7,000 Vigor
- The Hollow Crow - 6,000 Vigor
- Tancred, Master of Castigations / Reinhold the Immured - 7,500 Vigor
- Judge Cleric, the Radiant Sentinel - 8,500 Vigor
- Lightreaper - 8,500 Vigor
- The Sundered Monarch - 9,000 Vigor
After paying Kukajin a total of 49,500 Vigor, she will tell you that her time in Mournstead is done and she intends to move on. She will disappear after and leave behind the following items in the same location where you have been paying her in one of the alcoves near the Sleeping Quarters in Skyrest Bridge:
Taking Kukajin's items will mark the quest Kukajin of the Envenomed as completed and will also earn the trophy A Trace of Venom.
What is the Kukajin Invoice?
A Kukajin Invoice is an agreement between the player and the NPC that she will receive a share of the bounty (Vigor payment) after each fight. Kukajin can be summoned to help defeat certain bosses in Lords of the Fallen. She expects to receive a payment after every fight by visiting her in the Hub on Skyrest Bridge.
What happens if you miss a payment to Kukajin?
If you happen to miss a payment, Kukajin will remind you of your agreement and will warn you against breaking your word. If you go fight another boss without paying her, this will fail the quest and she will disappear from the Hub and move to the plaza in Upper Calrath near the gatehouse that leads back to Skyrest Bridge. She will initiate a fight if you don't honor your agreement. If you defeat Kukajin, she will drop the following items:

- WARNING: Rolling over or attacking her will destroy her petrified form.
- Some players have experienced that the Envenomed Ring didn't notify them that they received it, but the item was added to the player's inventory after completing Kukajin's questline.
- Kukajin is the stone lady found in Forsaken Fen.

I tried to kill her petrified on purpose, i failed. I guess they changed somethings recently. I could not find a key item( didnt realize I had to "cure" it myself, and I really wanted the loot near her body). Well, thats good news to people interested in her questline.

I accidentally killed her on my second playthrough whilst trying to defrost her and she dropped me her sword. Do not use radiant attack spells if you want to unfreeze her, because that's how I killed her, thought that kind of magic would have the same effect as empyrean grenades.
- Anonymous
To complete those silly NPC quests, the game ask you to let you die at first encounter with those bosses. So you can have the ability to summon an useless NPC. Do not even try to kill the boss on your own even if you can. So stupid.
Cuckulus from DS3 reference. Useless gal with an obnoxious summon quest. At least the rewards are cool
- Anonymous
Completed today this ass quest, the ring is NOT in my inventory after she's gone and I picked up her leftovers. Well, at least she doesn't pulverize when someone walks next to her statue anymore.
- Anonymous
This guide should be a bit more clear. Had 6 people to summon for hushed saint. Went through all their descriptions. Read this, sounds like you just need to hire her at least once. Beat him with Iron Wayfarer. And now I'm just screwed out of this? I see now you need ever every time...
- Anonymous
i was getting attacked while i found her. so ofc i was gonna try and defend myself. what a nice placement for this person. insta locked quest.
- Anonymous
Well I beat the Lightreaper at the first encounter in Redcopse, so that means that I have failed the quest before even meeting her? That's so silly.
- Anonymous
Love this garbage quest. Forgot to summon her for Sundered Monarch. Quest failed. Now I have to do this again over another playthrough--start to finish. What a lovely quest. The people who designed this quest--I want them to be forced to replay this game and do this quest over and over again until they realize what good game design is.
- Anonymous
garbage rent a girlfriend quest from a mediocre game with a trophy attached to it, i love ruining my enjoyment factor just for the platinum!
- Anonymous
Did I just kill friendly NPC by rolling ... how did they manage to make even worse game than the first one
- Anonymous
fyi: you don't need healing sorcery! just use Empyrean grenade, does the same trick
- Anonymous
DO NOT USE RADIANT ORB ON HER WHEN SHE IS PETRIFID.
Despite the spell saying that it heals allies and that it does the exact same thing as the Radiantburst Parchment (which does works on her), this does not and will outright kill her.
- Anonymous
Quest is bugged.
If you want to fight her as a boss, hire her for hushed saint boss fight, then never talk to her again. She will show up at calrath where the skinstealer is.
After freeing her Kukajin may appear at both skybridge and the Fen blocking the catalyst in human form. You won't be able to progress her dialogue in skybridge softlocking the quest. Quitting and reloading fixes this issue.
- Anonymous
The one NPC that forces you to never summon any other NPC for boss fights otherwise you fail her quest. That's a really odd way of enjoying the game...
- Anonymous
Here is how I got the sword without killing her:
- Attacked her (I thought it might cure her)
- She dies
- Immediately quit out of the game without saving (I shut down my PC out of panic)
- Next time I loaded in I was standing in front of her alive with the Kukajin just laying there
Let me know if this worked for anyone else
These quests. Killed Lightreaper and screwed myself on my second playthrough also. Really kills your motivation

Killed sundered, didn’t pay her then killed Eli without her help and she disappeared. F her

I was finally able to fight her and get the plat without doing anything crazy in the latest patch. This is what I did:
- Start new game
- Die to lightreaper at beginning area
- Rescue kukijin, then talk to her at the bridge
- Summon her at hushed saint fight
- Never talked to her again and kept going through the mines and up the elevator to upper calrith
- She was waiting to fight me on the way back to the bridge, where the skinstealer normally is
- Anonymous
Note: Kukajin does NOT need to survive the boss fight to continue the quest, all you need to do is summon her. It doesn't matter whether or not she dies, she will still reappear back at Skyrest.

Я не могу призвать Кукаджин в качестве босса. Она сидит в главной локации и не хочет становиться боссом, хоть я ей и не заплатил за убийство босса. Есть какое то решение этой проблемы?
- Anonymous
I killed her @$$ accidentally with a radiant spell and cant revert the save :(
- Anonymous
will she be able to fight if I summon her for Sundred and don't pay her then fight Iselle? I beat all the bosses already except for her

Probably the most mysterious NPCs in the game. Saved her from the get go and never got to summon her except maybe once and that’s It. It’d help if you could tell who you’re summoning but without knowing her name nor knowing she had a quest I completely missed everything with this chick. Though she wasn’t that interesting either way.
As of update v1.1.310 getting Kukajin as a bossfight is still bugged and is locking me out of the "None shall be spared" achievement.
I got to finish her quest on my first playthrough, I summoned her for all the mentioned bosses and got the "A trace of venom" achievement.
On my NG+ decided to try to get her as a bossfight for the "None shall be spared" achievement.:
- Summoned her for the hushed saint and beat him.
- Returned to skyrest, talked to her and denied the payment.
- Progress through the game until I defeat the hollow crow without summoning.
After that she is still on skyrest asking for the first payment and never leaves, shes always there, does not matter how many times I deny the payment and how many more colosal bosses I defeat. I completed my full NG+ playthrough and she is still on skyrest.

I was informed that "holy attacks" will unpetrify her im on my second playthrough and killed her again after not knowing the first time she dies way to easily in her petrified form there should be some thing telling how tf your supposed to unpetrify her this really annoyed me and i don't even want to play this game any more.
- Anonymous
If you attack and kill her in skyrest, will she drop the Kukajin?
- Anonymous
Not sure what's intended to make her a boss fight but I've only got it to trigger a very specific way
DO NOT KILL LIGHTREAPER IN THE BEGINNING OR IN FITZROY GORGE. SAVE HIM FOR FIEF!
Rescue her from swamp.
Exhaust dialogue to get her to move to Skyrest.
Ignore her till Crow in Fief.
Go back and talk to her in Skyrest.
Die to Crow.
Summon her for Crow.
Kill Crow.
IMMEDIATELY go to Lightreaper fight in Fief. Do not rest or travel.
Beat Lightreaper first try/without dying.
Travel to Upper Calrath. I did it using the Shortcut on Skyrest Bridge/the back way in, from the Marco the Axe Vestige. Might work from the Forgotten Guardian Vestige. Don't know.
She will be in the last area of Upper Calrath that connects to Skyrest.
Enjoy!
- Anonymous
One way they could fix this **** quest design is have her acknowledge your strength by beating a boss on first try, she will have some dialogue telling you "Damn, you strong af, looks like you didnt need me for that fight".

She doesn't leave forever like the article states. If you're going for the Umbral ending and you die to Elianne the Starved, you can summon Kukajin for free to help you out.
- Anonymous
This quest design is incomprehensibly stupid, from the basic concept of having to summon an NPC for every single major boss in the game, to having to pay her, to having to kill yourself to even summon to begin with. It is simply shockingly bad.
- Anonymous
Can this quest be completed by JUST summoning her for the final Lightbringer fight? The mission fail conditions seem pretty dumb.
- Anonymous
I don't want to fight her. I watched her in one fight and I didn't pay her. I nighted all the bosses, but she's still in the axis without leaving. Try how she leaves to fight.
- Anonymous
How i trigger her boss fight? I summoned her for the 1st colossal, never pay her, and she stayed in the Hub the whole playthrough, and never ambushed me in the plaza. I m right now after credits, and sbe is still in the hub asking me to pay her
- Anonymous
What a ****ing stupid **** quest design. I was trying to get to the item next to her and accidentally rolled into her. Great, **** this ****.
- Anonymous
This NPC is the worst. What the hell were the dev's thinking. YOU NEED TO PURPOSEFULYL KILL YOURSELF TO BE ABLE TO SUMMON IN THE FIRST PLACE.
- Anonymous
I've played 100s of Soulslike quests, and this once has to be one of the dumbest. Why would the player need to summon this NPC for EVERY SINGLE BOSS in order to complete the quest? That is never stated. If the player beats one boss on their 1st attempt, it's a fail despite the success. Really dumb. It should be if you use her for 2-3 of the fights, then she fulfills her duty. Not all of them.
- Anonymous
Just noticed that after patch today on PS5, both her sword and shield I got for failing her quest on purpose when fighting in upper calrath have disappeared from my inventory... Was taking stock for the collector trophy and both are now gone.
- Anonymous
for some reason she appeared as a boss even though i never summoned her, which means i couldnt have missed a payment, what did i do wrong?
- Anonymous
Last patch must have broken this quest. Twice now I've tried to pay her immediately after the Hushed Saint and she never appears again in Skyrest for me to pay her. Making this achievement unobtainable and the game uncompletable for those who haven't done this quest yet.
Terrible quest
- Anonymous
Did all the bosses with her but forgot to summon her for tancred since Im not used to summoning :D :D failed her quest because I didnt summon her in Tancred :D :D :D Finished the game to do some npcs quests but I guess I have to play again :D ! :D ! HAHAHAH! :D
- Anonymous
And the award for the hands down worst quest in any souls-like games' history goes to ...
- Anonymous
At which point do you pay her? After every boss, or after killing all of them?
- Anonymous
guys dont use a Empyrean Grenade on her didn't work and i accidentally killed her
- Anonymous
Wtf if ur doimg umbreal ending make sure u summon her if u dont u fail quest why wasnt that in the guide 49.500 souls waisted
So...she crumbled from a simple roll...when she had just finished saying she survived the monsters in the swamp BECAUSE she was stone. Thats just dumb.
- Anonymous
When going for the Umbral ending, after finishing her quest she can also be summoned for Elianne the Starved Boss fight, no invoice from her because she already left the land.
- Anonymous
She also gives the Envenomed Ring at the end of her quest, but for some reason it doesn't appear in the screen
- Anonymous
What happens if you kill lightreaper at the start of the game before meeting her? You fail the quest?
- Anonymous
I killed this NPC by pressing the (A) button. Which is the button that you use to interact with NPCs.. Because the game decided that I wanted to jump instead of talk... Great design. smh.
You know what's extra shitty about this one? No other NPCs up to this point are susceptible to friendly fire... So why tf is she? Feels bad man. If you want to have super vague quest objectives like this, that's fine, but obviously players are going to experiment (swing their weapons, roll, etc.) and inevitably **** themselves over. Horrible design right here.
- Anonymous
so this quest is already ****ed if you killed the lightreaper in the beginning of the game?
- Anonymous
i completely missed her or didn't even know who was talking when i encountered her statue. i had already beat hushed saint a long time before i found out about this npc and before i even freed her. i also just paid 7k vigor to her right before finding out it was pointless since i basically failed the quest before i began. at least maybe i will enjoy killing her for that. in game.

In my world I went back to Skyrest after exhausting her dialogue without resting, and although she was there she was saying the wrong line (just repeating the one about the lamp, her last lines after you free her). Went back to Forsaken Fen and she was somehow also still there, and resting didn't fix it. If this happens to you, just exit to main menu and load your game again. It was the only thing that worked, and made her disappear from Forsaken Fen and fix her Skyrest dialogue allowing me to continue her quest.
- Anonymous
for this reward? I would just kill her instead, get the sword from doing that anyways
- Anonymous
What a **** design. Killed her by mistake. "Get this thing off me" is an invitation to attack her... I even have Radiance and the spell. **** this **** man
- Anonymous
So if you miss even one of those summons it cancels you out from completing the quest?
- Anonymous
You can use the Empyrean's bottle (radiant flask?), it clears ailments and works to free her
- Anonymous
Needs to be a STATUS cleansing spell, not necessarily a healing spell to free her, everyone has the ability to cast "cleansing spring" 8 RAD requirement, and this spell will do the trick, alternatively "Sanctify will work, and you get this far earlier
- Anonymous
I used the group heal I got from the unlocked radiance class and nothing happened. So I got the cleanse spell from the tower in skybridge, returned to unpetrify her and she already was free? So either the AoE heal works or it is bugged idk
- Anonymous
welp.. i just killed her. first time seeing her and I didn't know how to free her..I attacked the wodden thing next to her and the area around. I kept doing that because she didn't make clear I was also attacking her and suddenly the statue crumbled. First NPC kill in the game YAAAY
- Anonymous
This is the dumbest quest I've seen in a soulsborn game before. 50k souls and you need to get annoyed at having her at half the major boss fights for such a measly reward? Stupid.
- Anonymous
I summoned her to every fight and paid 49500 vigeur but she doesn't finish the quest I don't understand she always repeats the same thing
- Anonymous
Healed her, exhausted her dialogue, rested at vestige. She is not popping up as a summon for hushed saint.
- Anonymous
Can't find where to summon her for judge cleric boss fight :/
- Anonymous
The Hollow Crow doesn't have any summon NPCs and she's still in the hub area. What am i missing?
- Anonymous
She's next to useless as a summon. She got two-tapped by Hushed Saint on one of my NG+ attempts
- Anonymous
DONT NEED RADIANT SPELLS. You can use Empyrean Grenade and Radiantburst Parchment which are hand throwing item.
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Well my stupid butt swung on her and she's dead and I'm out of the quest. I haven't backed it up recently and if I want to go back I have to start 7 hours ago on my save so onward and upward. Don't make the same mistake guys
- Anonymous
Do you need to summon her in all fights? I freed he, but beat the hushed saint on my first attempt so it never prompted a summon
- Anonymous
The way this reads it seems like you have to summon her for all those fights without missing one and paying her the 49,500 Vigor in total. Since you have to summon her for lightreaper this would then mean you cant do the paladin quest and hers in the same run since you can only have one summon, right?
- Anonymous
You can also remove her petrified state by hitting her with an Empyrean Grenade thrown item.
- Anonymous
Do you need to complete all the boss encounters for the questline to be valid? Does she have to live at the end of each encounter?
- Anonymous
Do you have to summon her to get her items? And if so, is just one fight enough or does it have to be all of them?
- Anonymous
so when exactly does her quest end? i was able to summon her for 2 bosses, just because i died and saw her sign after. do i have to summon her for all available ones?
- Anonymous
See unlike you idiots, I didn't kill her by attacking or rolling into her petrified form. No sir. I understand how this game wants me to think. You see, I'm clever. I transitioned to Umbral to see what kind of trap or mechanism was holding her in that state!
Transitioning to Umbral, however, also killed her.
RIP stone lady, I'm just gonna pretend you weren't worth my time anyway.
- Anonymous
After you free her, you don't have to warp back to a vestige. Just quit to the main menu, load back in, and she will be gone.
- Anonymous
So pretty sure this list of bosses is wrong. According to another website she can be beckoned for
1. The Hushed Saint
2. The Hollow Crow
3. Harrower Dervla, the Pledged Knight / The Unbroken Promise
4. Tancred, Master of Castigations / Reinhold the Immured
5. Judge Cleric, the Radiant Sentinel
6. The Lightreape
7. The Sundered Monarch
This list makes much more sense since Spurned Progeny would be hell since AI probably would die immediately in phase 2 and Elianne isn't a boss in 2 of the 3 ending playthroughs.
Also for people complaining about not being able to cure her petrified state as a non-caster, you can use a throwable item called "Empyrean Grenade." It cures all status effects and you can throw it at her to cure her.
- Anonymous
This honestly is stupid, I'm a strength/radiance build and had no way of knowing radiance magic freed her, let alone that rolling into her killed her, I now missed out on an npc and quest line all because of a lack of any kind of warning, even the souls games let you res an NPC's, I'm not alone in this either, I know its common to accidentally kill her trying to get the item behind her as she asks you to take a pendant off her.

"[...] you can make use of any Radiant spell to help turn her from the petrified state and return to a blood and flesh state."
You can definately not use any radiant spell on her. I used a radiant spell infront of her and she died instantly.

I don't see her to be beckoned before the Spurned Progeny boss. Is this list accurate? And how many bosses do we have to summon her for/pay her for for her quest to be completed?

I have freed her and fought the Hushed Saint with her. I do not see her summonable by the Spurned Progeny

To use radiance spell you need minimum of radiance 12 to use Orion Preacher Catalyst and the lower requirement spell radiance 8 Cleansing Spring. Both you can get from Exacter Dunmire in the Skyrest Bridge. If there is any other was to free her with out raising radiance stat I dont know.

What moron would make her one shot when petrified? Seriously?

bruh i accidentally killed her because i rolled into her while still petriefied... she dropped the weapon though :(
