The Hollow Crow LOTF Fight Strategy

The Best Tips for The Hollow Crow:

The Hollow Crow begins the fight with a few Enemy Umbral Summons that will be littered throughout the arena. Some of its summons will have additional icy abilities of their own and can leave a trail of ice that will cause Frostbite build-up if you come into contact. The main part- the giant crow will also assist by periodically dealing a few wide-range icy attacks that will cover a large part of the floor and can build up Frostbite. A few ice shards will also emerge from the ground following the breath of ice, but your fight will be mostly against Lucy, the specter.

Throughout the fight, Lucy can be seen floating around the arena appearing in solid and spectral form. In spectral form, Lucy will be untouchable. You will only be able to attack her in her solid form. You will need to meet her in the Umbral Realm or Soulflay her to be able to attack if she chooses to linger as a specter.

Throughout the fight, the crow can also manifest a storm that will circle around the arena. It will quickly build up Frostbite if you are caught in the surrounding winds. If you manage to hit her, she will usually disappear. Once you see her, quickly deal a charged attack to progress. Clear any surrounding summons so you don't get overwhelmed and watch your path for any ice shards. Try to not turn your back on the crow by the nest so you are aware of the next attack it emits. It can deal a variety of attacks. Once in a while the arena will be filled with ice, making it hard to navigate without taking in effects or running into a summon, which makes it harder to keep track of the Hollow Crow, so it is important to prioritize locating her and hitting her throughout the fight.

Deal any fire attacks you have as they are effective in this battle. As the fight goes on, the attacks will become more frequent and overwhelming and the hurricane winds will shrink, giving you less space to evade the traps in the arena and the rest of the summons. Clear the fight as quickly as possible before it worsens. Once you've cleared her health, deliver your final blow to the large crow.

The Hollow Crow Attacks & Counters

Attack Description Counter
Crow: Ice Breath The Ice Crow exhales a frosty breath that leaves a sheer layer of cold air on the floor, and later causes giant icicles to erupt from the ground Distance yourself from the crow to avoid the effects of this attack
Crow: Hurricane The crow can manipulate the surrounding air, keeping the center of the arena as the eye of the storm. Those who step into the surrounding winds will quickly build Frostbite Remain in the center area of this attack to avoid its effects.
Crow: Line of Ice Shards A linear attack. The Crow breathes a line of ice that will quickly emerge from the ground in a line.  Distance yourself from the crow to see where the start of this attack begins then run from the path of the ice shard line.
Crow: Ice Trail Much like the line of ice, except the crow can trail you with ice.  This attack will catch up with you if you stand still. Run fro the trail as it continues to form.
Crow: Ice Projectiles The Crow can send out a stream of ice projectiles Block the incoming projectiles
Umbral Summons Periodically throughout the fight, the Hollow Crow will release a number of different Umbral Summons and enemies. Clear away the summons as they approach.
Wolf Summon: Ice Trail The Umbral Ice Wolves can leave a trail of ice crystals in their path. Stepping on them will cause Frostbite. The ice trail will be very visible. Steer clear of them when maneuvering around the boss area to avoid damage and the effects of the ice.
Ice AoE She can charge up an attack that will begin emitting frost, marked by an expanding circle on the ground. This can build Frostbite and temporarily freeze a portion of your Stamina. Block or sprint out of the affected area encircled on the floor.

    • You can summon Pieta (I killed the other summons character by mistake). Pieta will essentially act as cannon fodder thus allowing you to focus on Lucy.

If you thought The Hushed Saint was a test of your patience in regards to waiting around for your chance to do something, then The Hollow Crow is about to really test your resolve. The best advice I can give from the various attempts at fighting this one is to not go into umbral early. It's tempting because you don't want to have to do the lantern pull thing to materialize her, but try your best to fight the urge to go into umbral. If you weren't already aware, when you hold R1 with your lantern out, it's pulling vigor from the mobs to recharge one of your charges that allow for you to pull Lucy into the physical world. You do NOT have to wait for the nodes on the side of the arena to return (in fact, you should basically ignore them, the crow likes to do the wind move a lot).

As far as the mobs go, Pieta is a good summon. The healing comes in clutch at times, and she can draw aggro really well. Your goal with the mobs should be to kite, and to not really engage. There isn't really a point to it as they just come back and only "die" when the phase is complete.

The absolute most dangerous BS phase is phase 2. That's where the griefbound rowena enemies start appearing. It's tempting to take them out, but it's a trap, they just spawn too many enemies and unless you can take them out in a few hits, you should stick to running around to draw Lucy out.

Phase 3 seems scary cause of the big axe enemy, but he is slow, and will pretty much just spam his ice attack. It's shockingly easier than phase 2. Again, don't engage, focus on Lucy.

Dont understand what drives devs to create bosses where you just stand around for 80% of the fight doing nothing.

          • Use boosted but only wither damage and %25 more soul damage eyes for lantern and use it whenever she appears. Lantern finisher everytime and boom! It is gonna be so easy, just dodge crow's frost attract between phases

            • Ignore the adds, soulflay the spirit girl, absorb vigor from adds if you run out of soul charges. Use the umbral eye that increases stun duration for an even easier time.

Enemy spam would of been the worst thing about this boss if it wasn't for the crashes that have happened. Literally borked 3 times on me.

the most disappointing boss in the entire game outside of the two bosses at the end.

they hype up this character in visions, the arena is cool, the boss design is awesome, the lore is sad and engaging, but they reduce it to "Kill normal umbral enemies that youve already killed a million times while dodging 2-3 basic projectiles" so much wasted potential, im actually sad that they went through the effort of making such a boss, only to give us...whatever the hell the fight actually is.

                  • Anonymous

What's this game's obsession with enemy spam? The locations, the bosses, it's just everywhere. Bosses like Pieta and the Hushed Saint were really fun. Using the lantern to knock the Hushed Saint off of the horse was a really interesting and fun way to use the umbral mechanic. Then you have bosses like the Hollow Crow and Kinrangr Guardian Folard which just have zero creativity involved and throw a bunch of enemies at you.

My game has never crashed as much as on this boss... It's shameful to release a game of this quality in 2023.

                      • Anonymous

if you go to boss in umbral form you can just rush to that girl and smack her ass before the other enemies even reacts. then just evade crow stupid ice attacks and repeat.

                        • Anonymous

pro tip: kill all the annoying enemies before soulflaying her! if you dont, she will continue to spawn more and more. i think you are timed though, so just kill the big guys ASAP and leave the zombies alone. fight becomes 100x more easier once you do that.

try to do this one last when you have maxed out weapons and more level, it will get a whole lot easier when you can kill lucy with one soulflay, use the extra soulflay stun duration eye and apply whatever buff you have to take her out as quick as possible

                            • Anonymous

This boss could actually be fun if the target swapping and general lock on wouldn't be as horribly buggy as it is off now... As now, this boss is a real **** show.

                              • Anonymous

Socket your lantern with the Umbral Eye of Iorelo the Cursed Knight. The main socket effect is: Increased Soulflay stun duration.

Don't go Umbral and soulflay her as soon as possible. It keeps her out for a long time. I was able to take off half of her health each time. Once her health is completely gone, the shockwave kills all the enemies, so you don't have to worry about them too much unless you feel like clearing the obnoxious ones between soulflays.

In-between rounds run around and keep an eye on the moving ice shard trail. It will sort of track you and bounce off the walls. The glacier ring also helps out on this fight.

Boss was not that difficult for me, though took a few tries. Was running around without killing mobs, except wolves, killed Lucy with Latimer's spear.

This boss would be way better if you could force Lucy to appear. E.g. you shoot at the Crow with a ranged attack and Lucy appears to try to stop you.

The way it is right now, you are just stupidly waiting in a Siberian bus station for Lucy to appear. It’s cold and there is nothing to do:

How's the performance for this boss on PC? I managed to take him down first try on PS5, but I had a framerate of maybe 10 fps throughout most of the fight. That was the real battle tbh

                                      • Anonymous

Beat him first try but was preparing to uninstall if I haven't, cuz it takes so freaking long and gets boring after a while.

This boss isn't that hard. Just be smart and prioritize the specter and you'll be fine. Otherwise just keep complaining lol

                                          • Anonymous

As someone who actually kind of likes this boss, let me explain two things:

First: you don’t have to kill all the enemies. In fact, it’s easier if you don’t. Just take care of the actual threats like archers and guards. Let the zombies chase you. They won’t catch you if you keep moving.

Second: the crow attacks solely from ranged. Just keep rolling away from the attacks and keep moving. This boss is practically a mobility check. If you can’t roll away, try equipping lighter gear.

This boss is not hard, you don’t get “ganked,” you don’t even have to worry about cleaning up the whole arena of enemies. Just stay mobile and pay attention. It’s easy, and I thought a nice change of pace from the parry then attack style bosses we’ve had up to this point.

I could forgive a lot about this boss if it werent for the constant enemies spawning. Love all the 1v1 bosses in this game but cant stand any of these gank bosses

                                              • Anonymous

Just want to point out a big mechanic. You can soulflay the girl from Axiom (no need to be in Umbral). After you do it you need to clear a few adds before you can do it again, but you don't have to force yourself into fighting in Umbral in this fight.
