Judge Cleric, the Radiant Sentinel LOTF Fight Strategy

The Best Tips for Judge Cleric, the Radiant Sentinel:

Once combat commences, the Judge Cleric will begin with a slow approach. Her weapon will have a long reach that can be used to stab and thrust forward way ahead of her even from a distance. These standard attacks will be telegraphed and you will see her change stances before lunging forward. She wields a spear in one hand and a sword in the other and will have two full boss phases. You will need to clear her boss bar twice and deal with a lot of Smite build-up as you progress through the fight.

Her standard combo sequences will usually be a sequence of swings dealt with her sword as she slowly advances, but she can also deal regular melee attacks with her spear for a longer reach. Every once in a while, she may pause to pose or laugh, giving you an opportunity to deal a charged, heavy attack or a combination of attacks. She may backstep in reaction to your advances.

Her more special attacks involve holy damage. At about 1/3rd of her health, she will charge up her radiance. Her melee attacks can now deal holy spells. Once she charges her weapon with radiance, it will be harder to approach her since she will adopt a number or AoE spells and attacks that build up Smite and will cover a large range around her. However, as these attacks play out, she will also wait out these attack animations till they are complete while standing idly. If you manage to approach her, you can deal a charged attack to stagger or stun her.

One of her common attacks during this phase is the use of the Rain of Holy arrows, which will fall in different patterns and densities. The affected area for denser attacks will be marked on the ground with a glowing circle, so you know where to run out. Others will be spaced out. You will also need to avoid the following the end of the attack since the thorns of radiance will continue to linger in the ground where the arrows have landed. Look for openings to run in and attack and slowly clear her health. Watch your Smite meter and clear her first bar of health. Once you clear the boss bar, a short scene will begin and Phase 2 will commence.

Phase 2

During Phase 2, she switches from holy damage to fire damage, so make sure you have Fire Ward to avoid effect buildup. Her attacks can now be imbued with fire, and she will have enhanced mobility including a quicker dash with further range. Getting caught in her attacks will now build up Burn and Ignite. For this phase, play aggressively and try to stay close to quickly deplete her health. She will still have her standard attacks, but they will now inflict burn.

While in close proximity, watch out for any signs of a larger attack. She can now charge up her attacks and deal big AoE and her spear thrusts will now throw fire. Once she looks like she absorbing fire, distance yourself quickly. A fire attack will soon detonate and explode outwards. If you keep a distance, she will begin to rely on her fireball projectiles. This follows a quick gesture where she raises her weapon before throwing out a fan on projectile fireballs. They can bounce once, detonate twice, and can be dealt in different patterns. Back away and dodge out for a change of staying out of the fan of projectiles, or to find yourself in the gaps. In between attacks, make sure to run in and take advantage of the windows in between. Dodge through her short-range melee attacks and dodge forward to the side of her dash.

At times she can put down a trident that will regularly summon fire shards from the ground periodically throughout the arena. Get rid of the trident so you can focus on clearing her.

I was excited to get her armor, only to find out, that yet again, ain't no damn shoes for the leg armor!

      Devs, why ya'll hate shoes?!

      • Anonymous

killed her completely by accident for the fifth time. I didn't think it would happen in this volcano of red ****.

        • Anonymous

Surprised to see so many people here saying she is easy. It did not take very long for me (45 minutes or so) but A LOT is going on during this fight and it took me a while to find real openings. FYI I used a quality build, lvl 80, Fitzroy's sword lvl 10 and Edicts aim lvl 9

          • Anonymous

Wish this game wasn't so easy, so many ways to get overpowered. pretty sure I could beat this game with just the poisen grenade at level 1. *yawn

            • Anonymous

her 2nd phase is an aoe ****fest. Im dodging all the time. Theres no real time to get more dmg than one hit into her. God shes so ****ing boring I dont know what devs where thinking by having enemies with little to no openings for attacks. thats not difficult its annoying. Also fun when theres an opening because you moved smart behind her but her swings are 360 Attack area.. like wtf. Hated that fight.

              • Anonymous

Took down a huge chunk of this game today, beat the paladins burden and the judge cleric, got uncountable spells, weapons, armor and quest items, doing endgame clean up...game dashboards me so I go back in to see lotf needs an update...ok, I
Go back in and I've lost hours of progress...F'kit I'm going back to dark souls, I'll be back when the game is done cooking

                • beat both phases of this boss at level 63 in under 1:30.. why was she so weak? first phase was hard but 2nd phase was just walk away and shoot spells.. i feel like i missed out on a good boss fight

                  • Anonymous

Give me Gael & Sister Friede at once I’ll say nothing ,but this in ng+? I want to fight a boss for 20+ minutes but then it should be fun

                    • Anonymous

I really have no clue how to defeat her in ng+ . Not because is it hard but it’s just ridiculous everlasting, long fight . At some point it’s simply boring I am losing concentration and that’s it . Considering she got 2 phases you are anyway lost in one as holy or fire . Ridiculous life bar and resistance

                      • Anonymous

Well im standing before her at ng+4 now and its a boss i didnt rly wanted to fight against before.
I remember the first phase is nice to parry but then parry is just dying. Now the life bars are just that big its so exhausting but in a way that this repeatance is so boring and at some point i just go impatient agressive and die xD

                        • Anonymous

Yeah, nice patching by the devops. Increase the Boss HP and reduce damage taken = Hard boss. They have no clue how to make a good souls game. Therefore FromSoftware has no competitions. CI Games, Deck13 is LAME!

                          • Anonymous

Ok so as much as I hate just increasing health of bosses to make them harder this one is an exception it needs a tiny buff to health because any weapon you have at this point shreds her bar

                            • Anonymous

Natural player level for this boss (if you're clearing all content and not just running past enemies) is 80 - 90 and you will have one or two fully upgraded weapons. The fight is tuned to easy-mode in this scenario.

                              • Anonymous

For all the people who said it's an easy boss, try using a longsword (with or without salts) instead of overpowered Umbral, Radiance and Inferno spells. Or fight her at level 50-60 with crimson rector sword, which is what I did and took me some 10-15 tries.

                                • Anonymous

Beat on third try. Pieta took over 20 tries. This boss is cool but might need a HP buff or something.
Beat her at level 90 something

                                  • Anonymous

If you follow the sitequests and do every boss... your probably overleved when meeting her. For me at least, it was super easy and no challenge at all

                                    • Anonymous

This would have been way cooler if both phases didn't end in a few 2h R2S......

Starting to wonder what the appropriate level to stop at for this game to be challenging is because 100 sure isn't it.

                                      • Anonymous

I spammed Seismic Slam in both phases. First barely lasted a minute, the second is more complicated, the bouncing fireballs are annoying

                                        • Anonymous

Man, all this build up for this boss, with the lore and the umbral remembrance things.. and it’s over in 60 seconds, both phases, so sad.

Not sure who the hell was in charged of the combat and the games balance, but you did a piss poor job, as this has to be hands down one of the easiest souls-likes, and it’s completely turning me off from the game, it’s a shame because the world is beautiful, and exploration is top tier, but after playing Lies of P, with it’s immaculate boss fights, this game leaves A LOT to be desired.

                                          • Anonymous

I’d like to imagine since both Radiance and Umbral endings leave her alive she can be redeemed and turned back to normal. Probably wishful thinking though.

                                            • Anonymous

She has a very cool design and the fight itself was pretty decent. The scaling of the game ruins the boss fights though; Judge Cleric included. She deserved to be tougher.

                                              • Anonymous

One thing I like about the Inferno ending is that it can make her into the final boss. She’s really cool and the fight with her feels more like a final battle than the one with Adyr.

                                                • Anonymous

Iselle and Pieta’s design make me think the devs have a thing for feet. Truly, devs after Miyazaki’s own heart.

                                                  • Anonymous

I want her to step on me and tell me how much of an heretic i am... oh huh yeah also, she's pretty hard on NG+ lol

                                                    • Anonymous

This boss is so much fun. The transition from waifu to disgusting swamp witch was incredible and unexpected
