The Empyrean is one of the Locations in Lords of the Fallen (LotF). The Empyrean serves as the main headquarters of the highest-ranking members of the Hallowed Sentinels, and is home to Judge Cleric herself. In structure, it is a large cathedral located past both the Manse of the Hallowed Brothers and the Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters. The Empyrean houses the last of the five Radiant Beacons that were corrupted by Adyr's influence. In Lords of the Fallen (LOTF), players will get to explore a vast, interconnected world where they will journey across the worlds of the living and the dead. This page covers a full walkthrough and helpful guides for the The Empyrean location in Lords of the Fallen.

Lords of the Fallen Full The Empyrean Walkthrough

Seeking an Audience with the Judge

Past the tunnel with the final Stigma in the Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters is a singular room in the underground level of The Empyrean. You'll find yourself in a circular room with an elevator in the middle. Behind the elevator, you can pick up Saint Salonor's Ring. Step on the elevated tile inside the elevator for a ride up to find and activate the Vestige of Iorelo the Cursed Knight. Open the double doors, and you'll find yourself in a large open area that seems to be beset by violent gusts of wind. On your right should be a Stigma you can Soulflay to witness someone saying a prayer to Orius, perhaps even Judge Cleric herself. You'll again receive the usual two Umbral Scourings for doing so.

As you head up, you'll be shot at by an Abbess with her Radiant lasers. After the first set of stairs, you can head to the right side to find a gate you can bypass with the Umbral Lamp or by transitioning to Umbral to pick up the Map of the Empyrean. On the other side of the same level, break the wooden breakable objects on the left side to pick up some Large Deralium Shards. Further to the left is a little covered alcove. Enter it and then turn around to find a corpse carrying an Enhanced Banner Javelin of Assault.

At the top, you'll have to contend with another Abbess backed up by a Sanctified Huntress. If you were able to deliver the Damaged Standard and the Tattered Banner to Stomund, Captain of the Fidelis back at the Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters, you'll find him impaled here by the Banner of Our Immaculate Lady. You can loot his corpse for the banner, Stomund's Flail, Stomund's Shield, Stomund's Gauntlet, Stomund's Armor, Stomund's Helm, and Stomund's Leggings. For now, head to the left side of the building to pick up a Purifying Balm in a shadowed corner. Head to the other side and follow the path to two Large Manastone Clusters and three Ammunition Satchels right before a closed door. Break the large jar to your immediate right and follow the ledge it reveals to pick up the Bountiful Ring from a corpse.

Head back to the closed door and transition to Umbral to find a ladder on your right. Head down the ladder and then Soulflay a target to the left to get across to the next platform. Follow the path to a Womb of Despair guarding some Umbral Eggs. Soulflay the Umbral Belly past them to pick up the Umbral Eye of Doln.

Head back to the large doors to find an Emergence Effigy right in front of it that you can use to transition back to Axiom. If you try the large doors, you'll find that they won't open for you. Instead, turn around and look for a broken tower on your right with a bit of light glowing from the inside. Head to it to find some stairs that will take you up. At the top, transition back to Umbral if you used the Emergence Effigy to exit it just now. You can now follow the new distorted path ahead of you into the upper level of the building.

Right as you enter the room, you'll find a Stigma to Soulflay. Do so to witness Judge Cleric talking to an Ermengarde, or at least talking as if this Ermengarge were there but is not. In her monologue, you'll listen to her steel her resolve to protect the people of Mournstead, in the way that she thinks is right. You'll get two Umbral Scourings for witnessing the scene. Behind the Stigma, you can pick up the Shield of the Moonlit Emissary from the desk. Beside this desk is an Umbral Tumor blocking your way forward, so you'll need to find the target to Soulflay to get rid of it. To the left of the desk is an Umbral Flowerbed where you can plant a Vestige Seedling if you want to.

Head out the hole in the wall on the left side of the room, near the hole you entered from. Soulflay the target outside to bring out a platform you can jump onto. When you do, you'll find yourself in a section filled with Umbral Eggs, guarded by a Womb of Despair. Soulflay the target above you on the slightly raised side of the section to bring out a partial bridge on the upper level. Head up the ladder and Soulflay the Umbral Belly at the top to get the Putrid Child Catalyst. Step onto the partial bridge you brought out and Soulflay the target on the other side to destroy the Umbral Tumor back in the building.

Find your way back into the building, rest using the Vestige Seedling if you need to and then proceed to the large gate left behind by the now-destroyed Umbral Tumor. Bypass it by holding up your Umbral Lamp into a room with two pairs of Abiding Defenders. You'll find more pairs of them standing still as you explore both paths on either side. The path on the left leads to an Umbral Belly you can Soulflay after transitioning to Umbral for a Saintly Quintessence. The path on the right leads to a chest containing the Empyrean Church Key. There's an Emergence Effigy in the room you entered if you need it.

Find your way back down to the outside area and use the Empyrean Church Key you just obtained to open the large main doors of the building. Inside will be three more pairs of Abiding Defenders. Proceed further and head past the church benches. On the right side of this section, there's a gate that you can't open yet from this side. On the opposite area are two Abiding Defenders guarding the Lucent Sword Shield on the altar.

Head up the stairs to find an Umbral Flowerbed you can plant a Vestige Seedling on to your left. Do so and use it to upgrade your character and rest as necessary to prepare for the coming fight. When you're ready, head up to the stairs that are cut off and drop down to the lower platform where Judge Cleric is waiting for you.

Boss Fight: Judge Cleric, the Radiant Sentinel

As you drop to the battlefield, your surroundings will seemingly change. This fight will start off a bit slow and more balanced, matching Judge Cleric, the Radiant Sentinel's pacing of attacks. She wields both a spear and a sword, launching slow, telegraphed standard attacks. The strategy for earlier on primarily revolves around dodging and seizing opportunities when she momentarily pauses. When her health drops to around thirty percent, much like her Sentinels, she charges up her Weapons with radiance, introducing holy damage attacks and a wider range of area-of-effect Spells for you to look out for. Carefully approach her during these attacks, delivering charged hits to stagger her. Beware of her Rain of Holy arrows and be on the lookout for glowing circles on the ground, signaling heavier attacks.

Once you've depleted her initial health bar, the battlefield reverts back to reality, matching the ruined setting of The Empyrean, and Judge Cleric, the Radiant Sentinel's true corrupted appearance will also be revealed. In battle, her tactics transition to fire damage. If you have a Fire Ward handy, you can use it to combat Status Effects, as her attacks build up Burn and Ignite. As always, be wary of her attacks but you can afford to somewhat aggressively - stick close to her to unleash your own onslaughts, but be mindful of her more devastating attacks that require distancing. Dodge and evade her fireball projectiles and be wary of the explosive attacks that span the area around her. At some point, she'll plunge fiery copies of her staff onto the ground. Remove them whenever you have a chance so you can keep your focus on her. Throughout the battle, adapt your approach accordingly, seizing the right moments to strike while evading her potent attacks.

Finally defeating her rewards you with a Vestige Seed and eight Umbral Scourings. After you defeat her and if you've spoken to Thehk-Ihir in all the Locations he wandered into, you'll find the Thorned Chalice in the middle of the battlefield. You can open the gate ahead of you and then head to the Radiant Beacon behind the exhausted Judge Cleric to cleanse it. Afterward, transition to Umbral and Soulflay the Stigma right in front of the beacon. You'll witness Judge Cleric surrounded by the Sentinels, as she asks Ermengarde to wound her, probably to corrupt the beacon. You'll get the usual two Umbral Scourings along with the Remembrance of Judge Cleric, the Radiant Sentinel for witnessing the scene.

To Storm a Castle

Head out to the battlefield and move forward, leaning a little bit to the left, to find a stone bridge heading up to a new area. You can use the Emergence Effigy here to transition back to Axiom. Enter the hole in the wall and circle around the fallen shelves and bookcases to pick up an Enhanced Holy Grenade. The gate here is the previously locked gate past the church benches inside the building. Unlock it and then head outside to your left. Find your way back to the upper floor of this cathedral again by heading up the stairs of the broken tower (in Umbral). On the upper floor, you'll find the Failed Pilgrim's Hood, Failed Pilgrim's Garb, Failed Pilgrim's Gloves, and the Failed Pilgrim's Leggings, if you were able to get the Thorned Chalice a while ago. These are from Thehk-Ihir.

To get to Bramis Castle, you'll have to return to Upper Calrath B. The entrance to Bramis Castle lies just ahead of the Vestige of the Forgotten Guardian but you'll find the doors there blocked by an umbral entity. Instead, teleport to Skyrest Bridge and take the only shortcut you found there that leads to Upper Calrath B, on the opposite side of the battlefield where you fought Pieta, She of the Blessed Renewal. As you backtrack, you'll inevitably head toward the street where you opened a shortcut door to the circular arena where you previously encountered a minor Ruiner leading a pack of Rhogar Hounds. You'll find Andreas of Ebb there if you've progressed his Questline. If you speak to him he'll offer to assist you, thereby keeping his word, depending on whether or not you returned Andreas of Ebb's Book of Lineage to him. If you take the shortcut back, you'll discover that this circular arena is actually an arena where you can try and fight The Lightreaper for a third time. Before you do, transition to Umbral on this street and climb up the two ladders that you'd already gone through before. At the end of the path, you'll find a new Soulflay target that will help you with the fight. When you're ready, head back down and enter the shortcut door into the circular arena.

Third Time's the Charm Against The Lightreaper

As with the previous iterations of this fight in the Defiled Sepulchre and Fitzroy's Gorge, he'll begin the fight riding his three-headed shadow, and he'll periodically hop on it from time to time during the fight. While he's riding on the Lightreaper's Shadow, just keep dodging its attacks. You'll have to time this well as the attacks are able to hit wide areas. When he comes down to fight you himself, you'll have your chance to deal some damage to him in between his attacks. If you've already tried and failed here once, requesting someone's aid will come a long way, as with most Bosses, so he can direct his aggression at someone else while you try and get some hits in. He'll be just as nimble as ever and you might need all the help you can get.

As an added layer of difficulty, if you skipped Soulflaying the target outside the shortcut door that was previously mentioned, you'll notice that he'll continually regain the health he loses. Transition to Umbral and you'll see that he's tethered to an Umbral Parasite somewhere under the grate in the middle of the arena, but you're unable to access it while in the arena during the fight.

the lightreaper1 upper calrathb locations world information lords of the fallen wiki guidethe lightreaper2 upper calrathb locations world information lords of the fallen wiki guide

At sixty percent health, The Lightreaper will empower his body with Rhogar fire, leading to a slight red glow. He'll be more aggressive at this point and his attacks will have a wider area. At fifty percent health, he'll empower himself further by applying bursting flames onto his blades, resulting in even more aggression and an even wider range. As before, he still rests quicker than most Bosses after unleashing his onslaughts, so don't be greedy with stringing your combos together. When he calls for his Shadow again this time, he'll have it unleash its attacks on its own while he continues his onslaught from the ground. Nothing to do but keep being patient with your attacks and eventually defeat him. If you have a Fire Ward handy, now might be a great time to use it.

When you defeat him, keep your distance as he'll have himself implode to try and take you down with him. Surviving this finally rewards you with a Vestige Seed, twenty-five Umbral ScouringsLightreaper Flesh, and The Light Reaper's Umbral Parasite. Soulflay the Stigma he leaves behind to witness more of his carnage against some sentinels. Doing so gives you two more Umbral Scourings, along with the Remembrance of the Lightreaper. There will be an Umbral Flowerbed nearby as well that you can use for a Vestige Seedling. Plant one and use it to rest if you need to, as you're not quite out of the woods yet.

True Colors

Exit through the archway to the right of the shortcut into the alleyway. There'll be an Emergence Effigy immediately to your right if you need it. As you move forward, you'll find Andreas of Ebb, waiting for the chance to strike you after you've exhausted yourself against The Lightreaper. This fight should be easier than the last at least, but it will still be a tad difficult. Andreas of Ebb is a nimble opponent, mainly using his proficiency with the sword. This means great fundamental slashing, thrusting, and parrying skills. If he's able to block or parry one of your attacks successfully, you can expect a critical stab right after that will eat up a chunk of your health.

andreas of ebb boss upper calrathb locations world information lords of the fallen wiki guide

Matching his personality, however, you'll notice his attacks can also build up the Poison Status Effect. He will also make use of smoke bombs from time to time to reposition himself. What makes this fight difficult, in tandem with his tricks and general fighting style, is the narrow alley that you have to fight in. Nevertheless, watch your surroundings, watch your ticking health, and get some patient hits in and he'll eventually go down.

Depending on whether or not you chose to return the Andreas of Ebb's Book of Lineage to him previously, he may drop the Andreas of Ebb's Sword, a Vestige SeedAndreas of Ebb's Book of LineageAndreas of Ebb's Ring, and Andreas of Ebb's Sleeves when he goes down for good. When you're ready, you can now continue backtracking toward the Vestige of the Forgotten Guardian and turn right at the end of the path to progress toward Bramis Castle.

I did all the steps in the merchant quest, picked up the thorned chalice and didn’t get the achievement for some reason. Also couldn’t do Stomunds quest because the enemy that is supposed to spawn behind you and drop the second half of the standard never spawned in after soul flaying the belly in the gazebo. Damn game needs some work

Best area to farm large delirium and Abiding defender/Abbess/huntress gear.

Throw down a seed right before the area of the judge cleric fight and start farming, you can just do quick back and forths with the defenders around the corner with seismic slams/magma surge or sweep the area clean, either way bring a bountiful ring, a moth ring and a bunch of bunny feet.

Of course they don't mention quest failures, and some of the "next" links are circular and take you backwards...this is Fextralife. Just YouTube FightinCowboy's 100% walkthrough; you're welcome.

          • In the next section of the guide, they have some overlap with this section. Unfortunately, they do not give quest failure warnings here, and only give it after you would have failed, following this guide:
"If you are on the quest to unlock the Dark Crusader class then it might be best to die on purpose on your first attempt. You have to summon the help of Paladin Isaac as the final step to complete it. Dying on purpose will not fail Andreas Ebb's quest."

"take the shortcut you found there back to Upper Calrath B." Please be specific about which shortcut. Is it the one next to the priest or under the stairwell or the one above the barracks?
