Gentle Gaverus, Mistress of Hounds LOTF Fight Strategy
The Best Tips for Gentle Gaverus, Mistress of Hounds:
- Recommended Spells: To be Added
- Recommended Items: To be Added
Gavernus begins the fight mainly stationary in the center of the boss area while relying on her Hounds to do the attack. She will release a number of hounds that will all attack, making it difficult to approach her to begin with. The hounds are equipped with an armor that can be broken. As you focus on clearing away the hounds, she will be continuously attacking you with her ranged arrow attacks.
Only once you get near her, will she begin to move around and switch weapons over to her melee weapon. She will also be able to quickly disappear in a puff and reposition elsewhere. Throughout the battle, you will also need to constantly reposition yourself in order to keep from getting hounded by multiple attacks. This will also decrease the chances of getting hit by her arrows.
The hound summons will take some time to respawn, and you will be able to pick them off and clear them out first so you can face Gaverus herself without disruption for a temporary period later on. When facing the hounds, bait their attacks and move to the side. Be careful because their side body checks can knock you over. Follow their attack with a strike of your own. Try to isolate them one at a time so you are not overwhelmed while keeping in mind to watch for Gavernus's arrows.
Once you've cleared the hounds, charge at Gavernus and she will switch to her sword. Allow her to complete her melee attack sequence and wait for the full combo animation to play out. Dodge each incoming swing and try to circle around her for each one so that you end up behind her or at her side once her attack ends, and you will have an open window to follow up with a charged attack or an attack combo. If you continue to parry her basic melee attacks, you can stagger her with a charged attack. Periodically check the surroundings in case any hounds approach. If you keep a distance, you can bait her to switch to her bow, and then quickly run in to interrupt her bow attack. Repeat the process until she is cleared.

Why do always games copy the worst from dark souls ****ing teleporting dog bodychecking you from across the arena and teleporting into the walls, harder than the actual boss

Pyros should just keep strafing and attacking the boss with fireballs, careful to avoid her telegraphed ranged attacks. Ignore the dogs (as long as you keep moving in between attacks, you'll be fine). Also avoid dodging, because the lock-on dodge mechanic is broken, and you'll end up dodging in the wrong direction (back into the dogs).

that's a very easy boss:
just kill the hounds (dodge theirs attack and blow them at the body) then circle running until she shot an arrow.
after a bow attack she requires time to shoot again and you can make a little combo or a strong running blow depending on your weapon.
if she attack you at close range then dodge away and keep running, she should return to the center of the area and restart to shoot at you.
when circle running you don't need to dodge the arrow, she can't hit you this way.

I had a LOT of trouble taking this boss down with the hallowed knight starting class. But I managed to beat her without much trouble on my second character as an Orian Preacher with holy buffed dual-wield hammers (i tried out several classes up to this point, i've yet to progress further). She was quite easily stunned with the dual wield setup and i largely ignored the hounds while wailing away on her and dodging her melee attacks. I did take some damage from the dogs, but she went down pretty quick when i kept the pressure on. Didn't teleport away, either.
TL;DR: being aggressive against this boss worked well for me.

Ignore the doggos and keep the pressure on her. Since she is porting regulary you keep moving around anyways, not getting attacked by the spawns

Kick the dogs. They will stun and you can kill them instantly :)

Personally this boss is extremely easy compared to the other two bosses I fought so far

Try to kill all the dogs before attacking her for the true sysiphus experience

idk if my weopons where just too strong. I have 2 +3 long swords. Thorned and normal Crimson Rector Sword. Parry one dog -> crit. do the same with the second one. then I just attacked the boss. she called another round of dogs but died before they could attack me

This boss is an absolute *****. Not only is the trek down to the boss room a bust (as someone mentioned, the gates prevent you from sending the elevator up). But she can keep spawning more dogs? Horrible design, IMHO. You should be rewarded for taking out the dogs and then being able to punish her, rather than being punished for not focusing her instead of the dogs. Trash trash trash.

This boss fight is a big dissapointment. Nothing fun/unique happens at all. Dogs are unkillable (they respawn) and the boss just stands still trying to pepper you with holy arrows or some sh!t. Just run in a circle and throw things at the boss, fire grenade works well as it does dmg over time, occasionally circle in and smack them- itll be over soon, difficulty is artficial. Really, no fun to be had at all. Respawning minions just feels so outdated- especially in a game with such graceful combos and movesets.
Oh well. Good luck yall

If anyone is struggling with the dog enemies, try twohanding your weapon. Your attacks won't bounceback when you break their faceplate armor.

The more I play this game the more I realize how easy bosses in this game compared to actually progressing through map.
Like I probably died 500 times by now, and not a single one of them is to this boss, neither more than 100 of those deaths are to any other boss.

Got her 2nd try, ignored the dogs and just circled her. Power attack when she does her bow and keep moving

yesterday i spent 3 hours of beating this boss, 2 times left on last hit and I died cuz I didnt have enough energy for my last attack, so pray for me today my homies and we gonna beat him on first try today (i can play souls like games but I was greedy yesterday)

This fight could go from tedious to decent if they didn't have non-stop dog spawns. You just run around in circles taking a swipe at her every so often. If you kill the dogs just give them like a 20 second cooldown where you can actually focus the boss for a bit.
Yeah, I only got the Sin-Piercer Sword from her. No other armor piece.

The boss dropped the armor piece for me instead of the gauntlets so I think it's a random armor piece.
Not a fun boss but super easy.. just run in a circle if the dogs are a problem

This boss fight is incomprehensibly dogshit on several levels. Taking the dogs from souls games and giving them frontal facial armor is a gaming war crime.

Easy strat: bait out her big charge arrow, and go for a charge. EZ game

What dev decided to place 2 elevators before te boss depending on where your respawn is...

Killed her in 15 seconds flat. Unlocked the blacksmith right before, upgraded my Crimson rector sword to +4, two handed it. One heavy attack kills the dogs. Dodge arrows. Smash. Easiest boss so far BY FAR.
