Where to Find Kinrangr Guardian Folard Boss in Lords of the Fallen

Kinrangr Guardian Folard is located at the end of an Icy Cave in the Fief of the Chill Curse, a location that is later unlocked by traveling through a gate from the Windmill Vestige.

Use your Umbral Lamp to get rid of the Umbral Entity blocking the path that heads deeper into the Fief of the Chill Curse. Heading further inside the cave you will encounter an Emergence Effigy. Use it if you transferred to Umbral. Continue following the path and eventually, you will find yourself in a wide area where the boss battle will be.

Kinrangr Guardian Folard LOTF Fight Strategy

The Best Tips for Kinrangr Guardian Folard:

Kinrangr Guardian Folard is encountered with a number of other mobs and wolves in the area in an icy cave. He wields an axe that can deal additional icy spells and can build Frostbite. His path also leaves a trail of ice crystals that can build Frostbite upon contact, so be aware of the surroundings and avoid the ice crystals on the ground. If you peek around the area with your Umbral lamp, you can follow his tether to the Umbral Parasite. Keep in mind it will be hard to approach because of the surrounding wolves, and if you decide to face him in the Umbral Realm, you may encounter an enemy form of the Mendacious Visage.

Aside from the standard melee axe attacks and swings,  some of these regular attacks are enhanced with ice and crystals that extend their range or build Frostbite in addition to damage to health. He has a special range attack that can project a slash in a forward linear line followed by a line of ice shards. Dodge to either side to steer clear of the ranged attack and the path of ice that will follow. Watch out for any enemies in the cave as well while you focus on the boss. His axe attacks can be heavy and he will usually pause after taking a swing, allowing you to retaliate or even charge up an attack to quickly deplete his health. He is especially weak to fire and can be stunned or interrupted, further expanding your window of opportunity to strike. Continue to approach and press on aggressively with your heavier attacks and fire if available and he will quickly be cleared.

Kinrangr Guardian Folard Attacks & Counters

Attack Description Counter
Ranged Slash His Axe Slash attack can project a ranged slash that can shoot out in a linear direction and can be followed by a trail of ice.  Dodge to either side of the path of the liner attack to avoid damage or getting affected by Frostbite

Standard Axe Attack These attacks consist of regular melee attacks dealt with his axe. This encompasses all regular swings, strikes, and slashes done with the axe.  Block or dodge the incoming melee attack. Note that opting to block will cause Wither.

poison wrecks him. i'm not normally a poison build in souls games, but after poisoning so many bosses I definitely have become one in this game \{T}/ praise the lamp / I love lamp

btw you don't have to be in umbral, just equip the lamp, roll evade to the back past everyone, hold it up with LT and burn the cheeky little blue bastard with RB. then poison everyone.

"Capra Demon, but with another miniboss in the arena for good measure." I want to crack the skull of whoever came up with this ****.

Lads, the game is actively encouraging you to be in Umbral for this one. Don't exit Umbral at the effigy, rush past the fog gate and into the boss room, DO NOT LOCK ON, kill the parasite with a melee attack while the wolves are busy standing up and barking, then sprint back to the entrance. You're out of range of the boss and the face for a little bit. While the wolves rush to you, kill them with ranged. They each required just one piercing light for me. Now you can soulflay the visage to pop it open and **** it up, and then you can finally tackle the big guy who will have spent most of his time walking slowly in your direction. I died 3-4 times until I figured this strat out, but when I pulled it off, I didn't even take any damage. The "boss" died shortly afterwards.

Out of Umbral, you'd need to deal with the water and pulling out the lamp slowly and siphoning slowly to remove the parasite, while the wolves eat you, the big guy shoots frost waves, and the mendacious visage tries to pull you into Umbral. If you never exit Umbral to begin with, you can top up your withered health on the cocoons right after the umbral door past the bonfire.

        • Enter arena. Dodge through water ahead and to the left a bit. Take out the parasite with your lamp (r1/rb). Kill dogs. Kill boss. Enter umbral realm. Collect saintly quintessance. Proceed to fief of the chill curse.

"You may encounter an enemy form of the Mendacious Visage." sounds like it has a 50/50 shot of turning up. That SOB has been there for every one of my attempts. Pro tip: stay out of Umbral for this fight.

to defeat him easily do the following. After entering the arena, use the lamp and look for the blue glow of the parasite, then switch to Umbral and throw grenades in the direction of the parasite. When you think you've hit it, just step forward and the boss will come towards you, ideally with a red life bar. You can then easily kill him at the entrance without triggering the remaining enemies.

I'm not the best but I've played a lot of souls-like games - finished a few, walked away from others. Some bosses I've not been able to drop because, frankly, I didn't have the skill or patience to.

This boss is the first where I can honestly say, it's just not well designed. There's a lot of nonsense you have to cut through before you get to fighting the actual boss.

An Umbral parasite, three wolves, and - if you're unlucky and get KO'ed too close to it's location - a mendacious visage.

Boss looks to have some interesting ice based mechanics that interact with the water in the arena. All the other stuff on the field seems unnecessary.

How did they "fix" enemy density YET STILL LEAVE THE MENDACIOUS VISAGE IN THIS BOSSFIGHT?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

                      • For everyone who struggles with him: When you're encountering him for the first time you can pull the three wolves with arrows or other stuff before the boss fight starts. Then you can fight the wolves before the boss fight starts. The rest is a walk in the cake because the dude is slow af

Easily the worst boss in the game. It makes no sense in any way. I get having the wolves with the boss. The Sin Piercer boss did the same thing and I didn't mind. Having the parasite and that stupid geodude enemy in umbral is just ridiculous though. Especially since it kind of wants you to use the umbral realm to easily find the parasite and make the boss actually killable. The rest of the game has it's ups and downs but the devs should actually be ashamed this is in the final release. One of the worst soulslike bosses I've ever seen.

                          • Anonymous

The parasite can't reach to the back corner of the arena, where you entered, make sure the boss is pressed up against the entrance and you can hurt him

                            • Anonymous

Yeah lets make a boss wig three frost wolfs that do way more dmg than the boss and can attack every second they want. And also it wouldn’t be hard if the ****ing game was so poorly programmed. Lagging piece of ****. Its even worse than Security breach lmao

                              • Okay, after numerous tries and fails due to this insanely unfair boss fight, the tactic i used is:
                                1) Enter Umbral and stay in Umbral while going in to the boss arena and stay near the entrance, use a bow and precision targeting to shoot at the Umbral Parasite and it will be instantly destroyed
                                2) Let the boss come to you, avoid going further into the arena to not pull the hounds
                                3) While only the boss is pulled towards you (while standing at the entrance) corner him there and gank him. Avoid going ANY further in the area and you will be good.

                                F*ck this boss , seriously. It's ridiculous

                                • Anonymous

WHO THE F*** PUT THE DAMN VISAGE THERE?! WHO THOUGHT THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA?! HEY YOU DIED, LET'S MAKE THE FIGHT EVEN HARDER! WHY?! CAUSE F*** YOU THAT'S WHY!

                                  • Anonymous

ez tip : don't fight him in the water. Lure him to the corner of the room without going into umbral. Seems like his ice shockwaves only appear when he swings on water and creating the ice

                                    • This bossfight is insane, not only do u have to run all the way from the vestige to get there , you have an arena full of water, have to kill a parasite (using the lamp in axiom is barely doable since u get ganked by the hounds) AND u have to deal with a Mandacious Visage at the same time if you happen to die (most probably from getting ganked from the get go) like BRUH

                                      • Anonymous

small arena with water and 3 adds and all imune... first you have to parasite to kill. sucks bad. once you made it to the parasite the fight is over dogs are easy prey and he just spams his hoarfrost thingy.

                                        • Anonymous

This is the absolute dumbest boss I have EVER come across in ANY Souls-like game.

First off, the boss is shielded by a parasite you can only kill with a melee attack, meaning, you have to be in Umbral to deal with the parasite first thing. If that wasnt bad enough, the boss has 3 hounds that are on steroids compared to other hounds in the game. You thought it ended here? No, on top of this, having a boss using frostbite, and his 3 minion hounds, there is a Mandacious Visage if you are in umbral. So not only are you fighting 1 boss, 3 hounds, nope, you are fighting a "mini" boss that shoots projectiles that wither your health and what not.

It doesnt really end there because the hounds are just simply too agressive and deal WAY too much damage.

All in all, this is such a BS Boss. It's no where near "fun" and the fact that the dev. thought it would be fair to add all these... nah idk.. So so stupid.

                                          • Anonymous

It's pathetic really, the fact that he has a shield is because his A.I is garbage and doesn't realize you've entered the room, so without it you can just use magic or any throwing item.

                                            • Anonymous

Wild how half of the game has way too many Vestige Seed beds, and then you have sections like this that desperately need one. Completely asinine level design.

                                              • Honestly at first I thought this boss was terrible but I 2 shot him. first time in I needed to figure out where the umbral parasite was after that it was pretty easy.

Immediately run to the dry land and draw the wolves and boss towards you. as soon as they're near run to the parasite and drain it quickly you're going to take a hit but should be fine. after that reset roll away until you can heal and then pick off the wolves they have around 600-800 hp so you should be able to make short work of them. after that stick close to the boss and just dodge his slow attacks and burn him down.

                                                • Anonymous

A boss purely designed to incite hate. Not going to be on anyone’s favourite boss lists.
                                                  1. Obnoxious placement of Umbral Parasite that requires destroying, just behind the boss and three wolves that don’t give you any room to destroy it before they stunlock you to death.

                                                  2. If you get sent into Umbral you also have a Mandacious Visage to contend with.

                                                  3. Required to start the fight with half health Withered because entering Umbral is required to get to this boss with no rest points in between.

                                                  4. 90% of the fight is in water leaving a sliver of dry land.

Oh and to top it off, there are 0 NPC summons. So solo or pray you find another player that has the patience to stick around for your inevitable repeated deaths.

By now, I'm entirely convinced that this developer is utterly incapable of designing a genuinely fun boss fight. They're all either downright boring, too easy or riddled with cheapness. Not once have I thought "Man, that was a cool fight. I wanna do it again." after downing a boss
