Holy Bulwark Otto is a Secondary Boss in Lords of the Fallen. Holy Bulwark Otto is the first boss introduced to players to guide them through the Combat system like how to Block or restore health by striking enemies. Otto can be found in Abandoned Redcopse. This is not an optional boss, as players will need to defeat it to advance in Lords of the Fallen (LOTF). Bosses are powerful enemies that add challenging experiences to the game. Defeating them grants players with rare and/or unique armaments, armor, magic, and other items. In some cases, they are required to advance the story further.
Where to Find Holy Bulwark Otto Boss in Lords of the Fallen
Holy Bulwark Otto is encountered past the doors to the Abandoned Redcopse after the Vestige of Ranik. It is encountered while following the main path through the Abandoned Recopse. The fight begins immediately upon entering his location.

The Holy Bulwark Otto is a heavy-set enemy who wields a large mace. He relies on mainly basic overhead heavy strikes and swings that can inflict bleed upon hit and can potentially knock you down.
These heavy attacks limit his mobility and result in a slower-moving attack speed. This will give players a chance to react and practice the initial combat controls and strategies. Watch for when he pulls his weapon back or holds his weapon up before he delivers his strikes. He will pull back his weapon briefly before following through with the attack. As soon as you notice this attack animation begin, you can start to react or counter by distancing yourself, dodging, blocking, or parrying his basic melee attacks. Because of how slow his attack sequences are, it is recommended that you try out the Parry timing here during this fight. Parry the Bulwark Otto just before the attack impact to reverse the attack and attack their posture, giving you a higher chance to eventually Stagger him and extend the attack window while they are vulnerable.
Once you have countered with a few parries, you can attempt to stagger him with a charged heavy attack, a parry, or a kick. Then once he is staggered, deliver a Grievous Strike to critically impact his health.
The rest of the fight will be a combination of these basic attacks where you can continuously practice your dodge and parry timings to build up to another Grievous Strike until his health is slowly depleted. In between his swings, wait for each attack animation to fully play out then immediately run in for an attack. Some of his heavier attacks will take longer for him to recover before he can begin attacking again. Continue to parry him and attack in between while strafing to clear the fight. A boss battle against The Lightreaper will soon follow his defeat.
