Tortured Prisoner is a Secondary Boss in Lords of the Fallen (LotF). Tortured Prisoner (Boss) first appears in the crypt in Skyrest Bridge and later becomes a Merchant, as well as a companion that can help you in specific boss fights after freeing her. This is an optional boss, as players can choose whether or not to progress this NPC questline in a way that may lead to a boss fight in Lords of the Fallen (LOTF). Bosses are powerful enemies that add challenging experiences to the game. Defeating them grants players rare and/or unique armaments, armor, magic, and other items. In some cases, they are required to advance the story further.

Where to Find Tortured Prisoner (Boss) Boss in Lords of the Fallen

  • Tortured Prisoner (Boss) is located on the balcony just before you enter the King's Bedroom.
  • To reach this location, go up the big spiral staircase where you can see a giant statue in the centre. This location is also marked where you will encounter two Ruiners stationed just before the bedroom. The balcony is found on the right of the main path as you jump down the platform leading to the two Ruiners.
  • You can trigger this fight by progressing her quest up until the point where you are required to deliver the Swaddling Cloth to her before reaching the Throne Room. Instead, do not bring the Swaddling Cloth and just head straight into Bramis Castle - Throne Room and defeat The Sundered Monarch. After the fight, she will teleport to her new location on the balcony near the King's bedroom.

Tortured Prisoner (Boss) How to Trigger the Fight

To trigger the fight and turn the Tortured Prisoner hostile, you will need to follow her questline up until the point where you are required to deliver the Swaddling Cloth to her location next to the Vestige of the Bloody Pilgrim in Bramis Castle. To begin her quest, you need to free her from the prison cell where she is being held at the crypt at the top of Skyrest Bridge. After that, she will move to the arena where you fought  Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal, and also near the fallen giant. In this location, she will become a Merchant and sell Inferno Spells.

Next, you will bring her the Giant Eyeball that is acquired after defeating the Spurned Progeny. Bring this item back to her last known location and this will prompt her to move to the arena of the Spurned Progeny. Then, as you explore Upper Calrath, locate the Noblewoman Set, wear the full set, and present yourself to the Tortured Prisoner who is currently at the Spurned Progeny arena.

Moving on, she will go to her next location in Upper Calrath. Where you will find the beacon, and she is standing behind metal fences. Your last requirement to progress her quest is to bring the Charred Letter near the Vestige of the Bloody Pilgrim. You can acquire this by walking back down the stairs and looking at the small fire burning on the side of the stairs as you go down from the Vestige.

Finally, once you have it, return to the Tortured Prisoner in her last known location in Bramis Castle. After this encounter, she will move to her last friendly location next to the Vestige of the Bloody Pilgrim in Bramis Castle. To trigger the fight, all you have to do is continue to the Bramis Castle - Throne Room without bringing the Swaddling Cloth to her. Defeat The Sundered Monarch and make your way to the balcony near the King's Bedroom. She is immediately hostile as soon as you enter her arena.

The Best Tips for Tortured Prisoner (Boss):

  • Recommended Spells: To be Added

The moment the Tortured Prisoner spots you, she will immediately become hostile and proceed to attack you. She first starts off her attack with a Fiery Blink, where she vanishes before you and teleports near the player. You can follow this trail as she leaves a burning orange trail as she moves to her next spot. The Tortured Prisoner attacks with spells and cannot be parried. Instead, your goal is to avoid getting hit by her spells by making sure that you are outside the reach of her magic.

Once she is near the player, she will cast an Infernal Ring wherein she touches the ground beneath her and fiery rings will come bursting in sequence. You can avoid this attack by running away from her and out of reach of her spells. However, make sure to keep your eyes on her because she can keep using her Fiery Blink to close the gap and keep attacking.

The Tortured Prisoner is weak to physical attacks and can be staggered if you repeatedly hit her. This will cause her to lose her balance and fall down. She has another spell where she casts Flaming Barrage all around her. You will know that she will do this attack if she puts up both of her arms over her head and a fiery orb forms. This gives you an ample amount of time to walk away from the Area of Effect so you don't get hit. Take note that whenever you are far from her, she will keep using the Fiery Blink to get close to you and attack you with more spells. Take note of the trail so you can see where she will show up next.

When you get her HP down to half, she will start attacking you with Fireball. This is not a homing type of attack so you can just dodge it after she fires the first one. It is ideal to keep your distance from her while she attacks you with this so you can have enough time to track the trajectory and get out of the way. She can also call on Infernal Ray wherein fiery beams from the sky will fall down on you. There's a short time to react before the ray explodes and it's just enough to run around in the arena. You can avoid this attack by running away while keeping the camera behind you. Try also to run in the opposite direction of the Tortured Prisoner.

When you finally get the chance to get close to her, repeatedly attack her to stagger her. Then, finish off the fight. The spells can get tricky at first, but as soon as you learn the prompts for each spell, they are fairly easy to determine so you can respond mid-fight properly. You may also use Burn Resistance Balm to increase your resistance against burn attacks.

Tortured Prisoner (Boss) Attacks & Counters

Attack Description Counter
Fiery Blink She vanishes and moves to a new spot while leaving a burning orange trail behind her. Keep your eye on the trail and dodge at the last second as she shows up near you, sometimes behind the players.
Flaming Barrage Calls down a fiery barrage that affects an area (usually around her) when you are nearby. Look out for when she moves both of her arms on top of her head. This will give you enough time to get out of the way by dodging or rolling backward. She will cast this spell around her especially when players are nearby.
Infernal Ring She slams the ground with her fist as several fiery rings crawl out from the ground in sequences. Move out of the reach of the spell and dodge by rolling backward.
Infernal Ray A ranged attack where she casts a series of fiery beams that will fall down from the skies. Look out for the visual indicator that will show the ray before it actually explodes. There's a short window to get out of the way and you can effectively dodge this by running on a slanted line away from the Tortured Prisoner.
Fireball A ranged attack where she continuously throws a fireball in your direction. This attack is not a homing attack so you can dodge its trajectory. It is ideal to keep your distance or walk away from her while facing her so you can see where it's going and you will also have a good space and time to determine the trajectory of the fireball.

seems that this boss doesn't count towards the achievement if you invite a coop partner for it. I was host and did this with a buddy, and didn't get the achievement until I did it again solo.
