Lords of the Fallen Pieta's Sword Notes & Tips

  • Hidden Lore: As the young Pieta's powers blossomed even more brilliantly than the Hallowed Sentinels expected, they shared with her the tale of her miraculous origin, being born of a human mother impregnated with holy light bestowed by Orius himself, hence her extraordinary nature. (Requires Radiance to unlock)
  • Weight: 5.3
  • Has a weapon art. The player must dual-wield Pieta's Sword and Elianne the Starved's Sword and meet a secret requirement.
  • The secret requirement to using the secret weapon ability is upgrading both weapons to +5 and having the Odd Stone in the player's inventory. Make sure to equip both weapons and then interact or speak to Pieta and choose "Use the Odd Stone". There should be an effect that triggers after presenting the stone to her.
  • To use the weapon ability press the L2+R2 buttons or the LT+RT of the PlayStation/Xbox controller.
  • Can be buffed with Radiant Weapon to significantly increase damage and slightly increase smite status build up.

I increased it to +10. But there is still only one rune slot. Why are there 3 written there? I can wear 1 rune. Is there a problem?

Would love to see an inferno version of this: Inferno scaling, pure fire damage, ignite build up, red light/flame blade.

        • Anonymous

The only weapon in the game that has all its dmg in holy, fire, or wither. That alone makes this weapon good for scaling with RAD. There's not a single fire dmg weapon that doesn't have split damage, and you probably wouldn't want an all wither dmg weapon unless it has a high status proc chance to make use of it.

          • Anonymous

This table is outdated. Remembrance weapons now scale up to +10 like other non-boss weapons. Also, it has only 1 rune slot at +8. When upgrading to +7 and +8 the upgrade description says it will go up to 2 slots but does not.

Can someone explain to me how the hell did I upgrade my Pieta sword all the way up to +10 cuz it looks like most people maxed it out at +5

              • Anonymous

You can wreck them with a weapon that you can get EVEN EARLIER in the game. The Raw Mangler Axe, which scales just about as well as Pieta's Sword does, you can farm as many of them as you want, and they even drop from the easiest version of the enemy that is part of the backstabbing/stealth tutorial. The enemy literally won't react to you until you start fighting them. I farmed them on a Condemned.

And now I'm taking them, and the Pyric Cultist Catalyst to +9, and I haven't even gotten to the first Beacon. You want to know the functional difference I feel between this and Pieta's Sword? Basically nothing. By comparison, you have to get 40 Umbral Scourings just for one of Pieta's Sword, and with boss weapons also set to be taken up to +10 now, there's no further benefit to picking it over any other weapon.

The range does not matter as much as you think, outside of PVP, and those are already separated from PVE. If you nerf this sword, you're not going to magically change the balancing of the game. That is my point. Bosses and encounters aren't going to suddenly become enjoyable to play because Pieta's Sword now hits like a wet noodle. And the same is true for heavy weapons. Because for as much as the one said "it wasn't their stats", their speed counts as one.

There are many things that hit a lot harder than Pieta's Sword, as well. And we're not even talking about the explosive bolts crossbow build. Simply put; stop whining that people found a weapon that they like to use, and you're not good at fighting against it.

The issue with the sword isn't how good it is - it is better than it should be, but it's a cool weapon so I can't really complain about that. The issue is that it's given so early on and outclasses so many other weapons, the game is playing its best card first. It's kind of a problem with everything involving radiance since it gets so much stuff so quickly.

Hard disagree with the guy below me, you can't simply hand out buffs to every weapon to bring it up to this early game, broken standard. Bosses in this game already have such low health and you want everything to wreck them like this sword does?

                  • Anonymous

This weapon doesn't break the whole game. If you want an example of a weapon that exudes "power creep", and breaks the intended difficulty of the game, look up the infamous explosive bolts crossbow build. I guarantee you that if you nerf everything to be not fun to use, you're just going to make people use stuff like THAT out of spite.

Make the other weapons enjoyable to use. Make them efficient. And for crying out loud, if you're going to make it so that your weapons will bounce off of every piece of wall or furniture, don't make it so that enemies are magically immune to that mechanic. You do this every time a new game comes out, people find a weapon, they enjoy using it, so you cry to nerf it instead of bringing other things up to encourage diversity.

News flash: They didn't make heavy weapons more enjoyable to use in Elden Ring by nerfing everything else into the dirt. They buffed them.
                    Crazy concept, I know.

Invaded for a few hours, not even exaggerating, Every player I invaded used this sword.
Pvp is not playable so it really doesn't matter but when the devs tried to nerf this, the players were crying so they walked backed their decision is beyond pathetic for both sides. They are afraid to nerf a weapon that obviously breaks the whole game, which is not a good look.

I handed the final rune tablet to Sparky and set him free, and I’m not sure if it’s a bug or intentional, but I can’t socket 3 runes now, it’s only letting me do 2.

                        • Anonymous

Don't know if its a bug or not, but just upgraded this weapon to +10 and only have 2 rune slots. The upgrade window said it would be 3. Maybe they reworked the upgrade?

Instead of asking for a weapon to be nerfed, ask to make the other builds and loadouts not shitty.

Slight nerf, Smite build up is reduced to 90 which is really negligible and there has been a notable decrease in stagger damage but it's still really strong especially when buffed with Radiant Weapon

Hm… I just upgraded the sword from +3 to +4 and I do a lot less damage than before. Tested it multiple times and compared to video footage I recorded. I should do more now abd I do less. That feels shitty… why?

                                  • Anonymous

Saying this weapon is nuts is an understatement, this is a weapon That coupled with That raidiance spell That repeatedly brings down thunder is just cruel to bosses. Tancred? More like TancDED amirite? What is that you say? A harrower dervla? More like Harrower Deadrla. Seriously radiance builds are probably so good 40% just due to this thing. So ummm you know go nuts before nerf comes around :^)

Another great thing about this weapon is that 2-handed attacks do not bonk off of walls. So you can feel free to attack in tight spaces without fear. Not sure if this is a bug or not but I hope it stays this way.

This thing trivializes the entire game. The damage is off the charts, anyone defending the damage and speed this weapon has is either really bad at the game or has no idea how a game should be balanced. This weapon is miles above any other weapon in the game. 800 damage with just one R1? Are you kidding me? over 2K damage to bosses with charged heavies? This thing does more damage than grand class weapons and is about three times faster, with the same range.

I know I might be asking for a bit much since it’s already OP as is, but I wish this had some kind of special attack. It’s pretty disappointing to see that even boss weapons have the exact same moveset as every other weapon of its type.

                                          • Anonymous

There is sadly no reason, not to dual wield two of these. Smite is easily best weapon statues effect in game, that triggers repeatedly, dealing hugh burst dmg and stagger. Most enemies in the game are weak to radiance. All other statues effects tend to be on drastically weaker weapons that simply don't deal enough to justify even using them.

Burn and poison are redundant, otherside some bosses, are not worth it. Ignite is second best due to the aoe, but only 1 weapon actually triggers it enough to matter, and being resistant to fire seems to completely negate it (or might just be bosses in general). Ice is forgot because it's on few weapons and tied to wither dmg, which in itself is redundant and pointless.

If you use this and elianne the starved's sword dual wield and use the combo attack with the guard and heavy attack button at the same time you'll do a magical explosion no joke test for yourself, if anyone else knows of any other unique combo weapon art lemme know in comments

If you have problems dealing with this sword on PvP just use a shield... shields stuns light attacks so they can't do their usual spam.

                                                • Anonymous

This thing is beyond busted, needs a heavy nerf, or at least disable the ability to buff the weapon. The damage coupled with the speed and range the weapon has just makes it too strong. Literal easymode for the game as of now. The difference between running a strength / agility based build vs a radiance build is also nuts, the game seems to favor radiance quite a bit.

                                                  • Anonymous

this thing is awesome but the fact it can get buffed is a little bit too good imo. its fun swinging around a holy lightsaber though.

                                                    • Anonymous

They should nerf this sword asap, its totally busted, destroys everything in the game and you have access to it at the beginning.

Everyone in PvP dual wield this Sword because Its absurdly strong, have the same reach as a long sword and it swings way to fast making it impossible to dodge when they get near you, insta death.

Wouldn't be surprised if this received a major nerf. Reminds me of moonlight greatsword from dark souls 2, used to have pure magic damage and was buffable, making it the overall best weapon ingame.

Insanely good weapon for how early you can get it and relatively low stat requirements. My first run was with a warwolf running long swords and the difference in difficulty now that I'm using this one for my second run is night and day. It's not just the damage (which is high!) but also the quick moveset and the incredibly long range. And as others have said Radiant Weapon buff makes this even stronger + sinergizes with the fact that you're leveling Radiance to do damage with this sword.

Guessing it'll struggle a bit more against light resistant enemies but then again the final part of the game is all demons so lmao
