Lords of the Fallen Full Mother's Lull Walkthrough

How to Access Mother's Lull in LotF

After defeating Harrower Dervla, the Pledged Knight, and The Unbroken Promise at the Revelation Depths, you'll find a well within their boss arena that can't be accessed without a specific item. To be able to move beyond the well, you'll have to return to Molhu at Skyrest Bridge and purchase the Scouring Clump from him for a whopping fifty Umbral Scourings. If you don't have enough, you'll have some farming or saving up to do. You can also proceed through the game first to save some up, just make sure you don't lock yourself out of the Umbral Ending by lighting all five beacons or opening the Bramis Castle gates in Upper Calrath without lighting any beacon. When you've acquired the Scouring Clump, using it at the well in Revelation Depths will allow you to sink into the waters and emerge inside Mother's Lull. This Location differs from the rest of the game's locations in that it cannot be completed on its first visit and relies on multiple NPC interactions to open the way through.

If you've managed to progress significantly in Exacter Dunmire's Questline - handing over specific Quest Items to him and then speaking to him in various Locations, you'll find that his fascination with the Umbral will bring him here in Mother's Lull. You'll finish his Questline by speaking to him here and then you'll be able to find his Weapon and Armor Set back in Upper Calrath A.

Parasites in the Closet

Once in Mother's Lull, you must navigate a series of tasks to move forward. Move forward and up the stairs to begin by interacting with a non-hostile Remnant, who will grant you Damarose's Seedpod. These seemingly innocent Seedpods harbor the sinister purpose of being used to kill their corresponding personas when you interact with them in their respective Locations. Note that doing so will have them permanently disappear from the playthrough and will disallow you to further avail of their goods and services. Killing each target lays them out, or their Umbral personas, as Soulflay targets that you can pull in order to move the platform forward in Mother's Lull.

You can find your first target, Damarose the Marked either at Pilgrim's Perch above the battlefield where you fight Scourged Sister Delyth, Pilgrim's Perch Descent before the battlefield where you fight Gentle Gaverus, Mistress of the Hound, on the mountain ridge in Fitzroy's Gorge, or inside the cavern where the Shrine of Adyr is located also in Fitzroy's Gorge, depending on how you've progressed with her Questline. If you choose to talk to her, you'll have the option to use the Seedpod on her. After killing her with her seedpod, you'll unlock her as the first Soulflay target in Mother's Lull. Head back there now and talk to the non-hostile Remnant to get your next target.

This time, the non-hostile Remnant will give you Gerlinde's Seedpod. Gerlinde is a blacksmith NPC that sets up shop at Skyrest Bridge after you free her and Sparky from their prison deep within Pilgrim's Perch. You will need to have done so first before you can use the seedpod to kill her. Make sure that you are satisfied with your Equipment upgrades before you kill her, especially considering that there will be a Boss fight at the end of this route. After you kill her, she'll appear as the next Soulflay target in Mother's Lull.

For now, you'll have to progress through the game for your next task. Note that whatever you do, however, do not cleanse all five Radiant Beacons to ensure that you are not locked into the Radiance Ending of the game. To also ensure that you aren't locked into the Inferno Ending of the game, make sure to at least cleanse at least one beacon.

Your next task is to defeat The Lightreaper and acquire The Lightreaper's Umbral Parasite. By now, you would have two chances to do this - at the beginning, though notably incredibly difficult, and in Fitzroy's Gorge, as an optional Boss fight. Otherwise, you'll have to progress the game until you get to your third chance to defeat him, which comes after clearing the Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters and collecting the Rune of Adyr there. After doing so, you'll be able to revisit Upper Calrath B and find yourself at odds with The Lightreaper for a third and final time in the large circular arena where you fought a minor Ruiner previously. Note that this event remains the same even if you managed to progress The Iron Wayfarer's Questline prior to clearing the Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters, therefore resulting in The Iron Wayfarer joining you in the fight against the Rapturous Huntress of the Dusk and taking the Rune of Adyr for himself initially. Also, if you haven't cleansed any beacons at all, make sure not to open the gates of Bramis Castle accidentally after defeating The Iron Wayfarer as you look for The Lightreaper in Upper Calrath B. This spot can be found across the doors leading out of the Vestige of the Forgotten Guardian, and doing so will lock you into the Inferno Ending.

After you defeat The Lightreaper and claim The Lightreaper's Umbral Parasite, return to the Skyrest Bridge and head to Molhu's room across Pieta's usual spot. Once there, transition to Umbral and place The Lightreaper's Umbral Parasite in the empty glass column to the right of Molhu. Afterward, find your way back to Mother's Lull again and talk to the non-hostile Remnant like before, to get Melchior's Seedpod. Melchior is the brother of Drustan, who has been kidnapped by the Rhogar. If you have the Rune of Adyr with you now, bring it to the non-hostile Remnant as well. If The Iron Wayfarer took the Rune of Adyr at the end of the Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters, you can proceed toward the gates of Bramis Castle from Upper Calrath B and defeat The Iron Wayfarer there to get it, again provided you have cleansed at least one beacon. When you take it from him, bring it to the non-hostile Remnant in Mother's Lull and you'll be asked to confirm if you truly want to hand it over and bind yourself to the will of the Putrid Mother. Clicking yes will transform the rune and have you acquire the Withered Rune of Adyr. Note that doing so now blocks you from obtaining the game's Radiant Ending.

Now that you have Melchior's Seedpod, it looks like he's your next target, and you'll find him deep within Bramis Castle, which you can now safely enter with your Withered Rune of Adyr. Doing so now blocks you from obtaining the game's Inferno Ending as well. You'll find Melchior infused to the effigy of Adyr, after you defeat The Sundered Monarch. Interact with the effigy to be prompted to use the seedpod to kill him and have him appear as the third Soulflay target to progress in Mother's Lull.

Your next task is to get Harkyn's Umbral Parasite. You'll be able to find The Iron Wayfarer in the Fief of the Chill Curse, only in Umbral, after you defeat him at the Bramis Castle gates. From the Vestige of Svornil, turn around and head up the ladder to your right. At the top, climb up another ladder to the right and follow the narrow path of ledges and wooden planks around up to the icy slope. Keep following the path toward the beacon until you reach a gate that you'll have to jump over after climbing a ladder.  Transition to Umbral to find him just a bit further past the gate, overlooking the beacon. Talk to him and he'll say he's done running from who he truly is. You'll be prompted to use the Withered Rune of Adyr which will ultimately kill him and give you Harkyn's Umbral Parasite. Head back to Molhu's room again in Skyrest Bridge and transition to Umbral to place the parasite in another slotted column across the one you used earlier.

Final Boss Fight: Elianne the Starved

Speak to Molhu here to get information on your next target, who will be none other than Pieta. Before heading to her, prepare accordingly for the final fight. When you're ready, speak to Pieta at her usual spot in Skyrest Bridge, and then choose the option to Soulflay her. This will result in a cutscene in which her Umbral Parasite is revealed. You'll then automatically be sent to a Boss fight against Elianne the Starved, in the same area where you fought Harrower Dervla the Pledged Knight and The Unbroken Promise, in front of the well leading to Mother's Lull.

To defeat Elianne The Starved, you'll need to be prepared for her versatile array of Umbral Magic and sword strikes, which she combines with techniques reminiscent of Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal. These tactics include the use of Holy Spells capable of building up the Smite Status Effect, along with the introduction of new Umbral Spells and attacks. Notably, Elianne The Starved can summon supplementary alters of herself, which act as specters capable of their own attacks. In addition, she frequently releases a flurry of Umbral orbs into the battlefield, of varying density, frequency, and flight patterns. You'll have to make sure to constantly monitor your surroundings while engaging Elianne The Starved and her reflections. Be on the lookout for openings to engage in close combat as you dodge the orbs and her, and her alters', Spells. Her spellcasting is typically telegraphed, and you can anticipate her next moves as she raises her sword. When she begins to glow or power up, she is preparing for an Umbral spell attack, which you can react to by increasing the distance between you and her. Keep in mind that, similar to the fight against Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal, she can summon a set of floating swords that remain suspended momentarily before descending. Be patient and learn the cues to be able to evade any impending onslaughts. Wait for her attack sequences to finish before closing in for your own offensive, and be prepared to adapt your tactics in response to her magical assaults. When you defeat her, you'll be rewarded with a Vestige Seed, eight Umbral Scourings, and Elianne's Umbral Parasite.

Near the exit, across the well leading to Mother's Lull, you'll find a Stigma floating above. Transition to Umbral and Soulflay it to witness Molhu giving a monologue as he carries a baby - presumably Elianne. You'll get the usual two Umbral Scourings for doing so, along with the Remembrance of Elianne the Starved.

For She Must Feed

When you're ready, head back to Molhu's room in Skyrest Bridge and transition to Umbral. If you talk to him, he'll tell you to let Elianne soar free. Interact with another empty column in the room, beside the one you recently used, to place Elianne's Umbral Parasite inside. Afterward, speak to Molhu again and choose the option to 'Enter Mother's Lull.' He'll show his reveal the last Seedpod in the palm of his hands. He'll use it to kill himself, thus turning him into the fourth and final Soulflay target needed to progress forward in Mother's Lull.

In Mother's Lull, move forward and then Soulflay the four targets - Damarose the Marked, Gerlinde, Melchior, and Molhu - hanging from twisted versions of the pillars back in Molhu's room to move the platform you're standing on forward to some stairs. Head up the short staircase toward the large Umbral Eye, waiting for you to enter its embrace.

In this Umbral Ending of the game, the barriers between the realm of the dead and the realm of the living are torn down, which enables the shadows of Umbral to spread over all of Axiom. Finishing the game here allows you to unlock the Putrid Child Class to use in subsequent playthroughs and in New Game Plus.

Holy shiet this is some next level follow-the-guide-and-dont-enjoy-the-game. No way anyone accidentally gets this ending.

My game keeps crashing over and over again when I try to get the ending. I even restarted a playthrough only to have the same exact problem. I can’t get the Umbral ending because of this. What a ****ing joke…

I put the lightreaper umbreal parasite into the glass tube, but the remnant doesnt hand over the Melchior seedpod :(

So basically this location is only if you are going for the umbral ending. Otherwise remnant becomes unavailible (just stands there, does nothing after I've lit 5 beacons and opened the gate).
